It's a lagging measure, so it seems inevitable that the number of cases will increase over the next couple of weeks. And that's assuming theres an impact from the social restrictions

    Well they're not.

It will be because it will go up.

The reason for the semi lockdown now is to control the bed space but the worrying news is that they're getting the excel ready and other places because we are due to peak in May and the hospitals don't have enough beds.

The key stat goes without saying and that is deaths, obviously it will rise but I believe it’s actually down on the previous 24 hours. I wonder how we compare to Italy and Spain now because a week ago people were saying we were on par, but the deaths don’t seem to have shot up yet, it’s either just a matter of time or thanks to the fantastic work the NHS are doing.

Those numbers seem very low to me. Let’s hope they are a true reflection.

Yes. According to Nadhim Zawahi on Newsnight when being asked some very awkward questions, 6400 tests done today compared to 5000 tests yesterday. And testing for the illness itself (rather than testing for antibodies for those who have had the disease) to be 'ramped up' to 25,000 days by some indefinite future date.

The interview of Zawahi by Emily Maitliss and the earlier discussion with a ventilator manufacturer provides some insight into recent claims. It will be worth watching on catch-up.

That's what I thought but unlike positive tests, deaths would be very hard to cover up.

And so it begins, the cover up:

We have changed the way how we record deaths.

Said on Newsnight that the number of deaths is based on the family of the deceased agreeing that their loved one can be included in the count, so someone could die today but if the family doesn’t agree to the death being included in the statistics straight away it can take a few days to include that death in the numbers.

That's strange. Why would permission need to be obtained to be included in statistics? Nobody is naming the deceased. And even then, I'm not sure why anyone would object to it.

Because the next move will be just to count those that only die from the virus with no underlying problems.

    Bit like flu.

The world needs to move away from the virus economically.

Trump calling for Churches to be packed for Easter. The man’s an absolute an absolute danger. If he carries on like that, questions need to be asked of him by the rest of the world. But they won’t though, money talks, same with China, nothing will happen.

Those lucky enough to put a claim in for Universal Credit will have to wait at least 5 weeks for a payment. They can apply for an emergency loan to bridge them until their payment comes through.
Universal Credit is an absolute disgrace!

And so it begins. Not surprising though. Where theres a disaster theres brass to be made. And lots of it.

Early days, but the last 2 days look more promising in terms of trending behind Italy's infection and deaths curve.

You have taken China at face value for weeks, them and Iran are releasing figures that are complete bollocks. In Spain a nursing home was found with people dead in their beds, China is in full lockdown, who knows how many places like that exist as China will not be broadcasting things like that.

No taken China at first value but I don't know how they're reporting their numbers but I can only see what they report.

Disagree...the more deaths attributed to the virus the more powerful the message...
