Let’s not have another Omari Patrick on our hands. He’s been good so far but he needs to prove it over a longer period for me

 

Not yet, but has the ability to provide assists which seems to be the in thing these days for a defender.

 

Signed on a three year deal July 2018 so no need to be offering a new deal just yet . See how he goes this season (so far so good) then look at extending in closed season when hopefully we are back in League 1

 

Getting Mezza back on a free is nothing to be sniffed at.

 

Ah right. Thought his contract ran out next summer.

 

No doubt Wood is coming on fanatically well, Bowyer deserves credit as well. He has a reputation for improving players, but obviously they need the ability in the first place. I’d see how he’s going in January if he’s still improving then definitely another one or two year extension imo, no need to panic yet though still got two years left on his contract.

 

Chicksen and superb in the same line. Surprised to say the least

 

I'm really pleased with Woods progress. His defensive game has improved considerably. I'm also pleased Chicksen has got a club and seems to be playing well. There was never any lack of effort from him. Just his form and possibly a bit of bottle disappeared after 2 horrendous injuries

 

I remember once when Chicksen fired in a great cross for Wyke one time to score.

It was a superb decision to release Chicksen in the summer.

Wood’s form so far this year has been fantastic, both for players and club and have to agree with @WilsdenBantam that Bowyer deserves credit for that. Credit to Wood, lets keep encouraging him and hope this continues. However lets not get overly carried away. Last season was his first proper one and as a younger player there were indifferent performances. This was natural given he was/is transitioning into the adult game and also given the situation we as a club were in. I don’t think Wood justified being selected ahead of anyone else last season but certainly deserves it so far this season. So keep it up Conner, keep playing as you are and you’ll certainly endear yourself to the City faithful.

On the comparison to Meredith - ludicrous after approx 10 good games. Lets slow down....

Wood has certainly exceeded my expectations, so far. However, the game is there for Connor himself to manage and play, mentally. More of the same - and yes, let's tie the lad down with an improved contract in January .......... With the appropriate noises within VP telling the lad now (in other words - "The job's ONLY half done, son .... Don't let up now."), rather than on the 31st January, with a barely improved deal. The current man Management of Connor is just as crucial as any future contract signed by him. (And that can be said of other players, too !! )

 

Connor seems a very focused young lad . I hope he keeps up his form and yeah improve his contract come January

 

Not young Wood's best game today.
He seemed reluctant to push forward and, apart from the peach that Donaldson should have buried, his crossing wasn't up to his usual standard.

 

Was saying we had a player on our hands in wood last season if he worked on his defensive side of things. Well that is certainly improving and his crossing is very good probably the best at the club IMO. He certainly could play in the championship if he keeps progressing the way he is in a couple of years.
