I for one have always liked the lad, tries to get in the game his strike against Accrington last year spot on. Left back I don’t think his chances of getting in team are strong but play him on wing you may have found his new position. His delivery and ability to cross a ball as yesterday showed we may have finally found the missing link on the left.

The Chicksen vs Wood debate last season did make me laugh.

Wood is far from perfect but it's very clear that he's someone who A) has ability and B) has more to give and will get better with game time.

A player who's been underused in a City shirt imo.

He got his head down and worked hard last season and in fairness performed well at times.

Given we have Donaldson and Vaughan, if nothing else his ability to cross a ball could see him getting a run of games. I don't care if he's not fast and can't beat a man with pace. Beckham couldn't! Now.... I'm not comparing him to Beckham but he's just one example of a wide player who didn't have pace and did OK for himself.

I hope Connor gets a run of games and performs well.

Hes got a lot of potential. A season of League 2 football is probably perfect for his development.

Personally, I'd like to see him at left back. He'd still be able to get forward and put those deliveries into the box, but with a proper left winger we'd have even more supply into the front 2.

I'd imagine that he's done more than enough to keep his shirt and position for Tuesday night. Itll be the same team I'd think.

And there in lies the conundrum. I'd like to see him get a run of games too, but if we get the left sided winger in that everyone's been calling for, he could end up being the forgotten man again.

was a joke that chicksen kept him out of the team last season. If he keeps up with the crosses, it makes us a much more dangerous team as we have a different type of threat on each flank, with Scannell being more of a get your head down and run at em type and Wood a bit more Beagrie style crossing from a bit deeper. Train him up on his other foot, get em swapping flanks and nobody in L2 would be able to cope.

I like Connor, and I think he definitely shows promise. Still not sure which position he is better at. Good performance yesterday from him in an attacking role, some very good crosses, including the opening goal.

However, i think as he gains experience, I would like to think he will make a good attacking full back

I think we should keep him at left mid. With crossing ability like he has, we need him on the ball higher up the pitch where he can use that ability to hurt other teams. There's enough cover at LB as it is and we're light at left mid so this is his chance to nail a starting spot down.

He’s a terrible defender but can cross a ball so it’s not hard to work out his best position

He genuinely is a terrible defender.

The Chicksen debate was only ludicrous in that Wood was never a better left back.

But he is a decent left midfielder he did well in a few games he was picked there last season and again yesterday. I liked the way he tracked back as well.

No issue with his performance yesterday in left midfield.

Watched him at lm in pre season at park avenue and his delivery was top notch
I know he had more time and space than he would in a regular league game but with the quality of striker we have at our disposal he can only be an asset to our team

Certainly looks better going forward. Sometimes in a team balance is far more important than the individual talent of the players. Wood is never gonna be a world beating left winger but does have the ability to hit in a mean cross. And then its the law of averages in league 2. With our front two, the more decent balls you whip in the more chance they have of getting on the end of one. The trick now is to make yourself undroppable.

Keep him left midfield and let him feed the Don.

He’s ideal for LM as he’s naturally left footed and helps offset Scannell being very offensive on the other side.

Keep whipping those balls in for Vaughan and Donaldson to attack, Connor!

crossing and dead balls was the only reason we played tony M in midfield for an entire season

Proven he has got great instinctive delivery. His cross for first goal yesterday was really on the money. Offers a nice contrast to the more typical wing trickery on the other side with Scannell.

I feel like Henley could be a weak link in this side so no bad thing at the moment having the more defensively minded Wood in front of him to track back and help him out.

On the other side can see Scannell and Mellor developing a good partnership based on yesterday's game. Brilliant ball from the latter for the second goal as well, long ball at its best!
