Any substance though?

 

City Vent guys moaned a lot about trolls and how they're not in it for the money but then talk about flogging merchandise!!!! It seems to be a podcast more about them than city. Everyone to their own but a pair of prima donna's. who believe their own hype. Come back when you've made it lads before flogging merchandise.

 

I just cba listening to podcasts. Much prefer old school written copy I can flick through on the bog or on the sly at work that don’t demand your full attention.

Its just brand awareness isnt it. Think they said all proceeds would be invested in equipment and to improve the production.

 

He's right though. This latest podcast was pretty poor.

I really enjoyed the couple they did when they had guests on but if it's just them two chatting I'll probably give them a miss in future.

 

Well down to personal opinion. Tbf i prefer the chatter about current affairs. Im not interested in the guests unless its a big name. Sparks was a good listen.

Seemed some venom in his post. An axe to grind. I noticed someone from a former podcast was having a go on Twitter.

 

Good podcasting needs planning. Guests need to be lined up far in advance and spaced out so that there aren't too many in one hit. If those involved really only enjoy talking and raising their own profiles then they won't put the work into organised guests, work out what the topics should be, do research on content or the guests and it all goes downhill pretty quickly.

Compare it to radio Leeds (I know it could be an unfair example), they had Jamie and guests as the lead people then someone like that young Louis doing a lot of the behind the scenes work but then getting brought in from time to time for his bit of presenting. I do slightly worry that they'll get bored and sack it in.

 

Could well have changed their tune, one of the lads from vent has been caught out on twitter a few times already this summer trying to make up or start rumours from his other account, then spreads it with vent... when they've turned out to be nonsense he is quick to delete.

Open twitter spaces were a much better idea for discussion if you have just an outline to talk about as other voices and opinions spark debate. When two people start recording on a loose topic with an outline of planning, it gets flat quickly. Might turn around once they get their teeth into it, but yeah if it's not had a guest on the podcasts have been very skipable. Production/tech quality is another thing that will get people to switch off a new pod if it's not great, something they probably needed to spend big on before starting.

 

They were talking about selling merchandise in order to improve what they are doing. They are a breath of fresh air in my opinion.as they said if you don’t like like dont listen
