I don’t know who started that rumour there is zero chance of Wyke coming back. In any case if Vaughan gets his head right I think he would score more than Wyke. I still think it’s a good job that when the cap comes in our contracted players are discounted because they would take us over the limit alone

Don't think Vaughan will be leaving this window, its a buyers market at the moment. Vaughan left because of tactics and now that problem solved itself. He must know stuarts not for boring long ball football. If billy clarke does come in, i expect he will drop into a playmaker role.

I think finance wise they'd be happy if someone came in for Vaughan but as you say his salary won't count against any possible cap.

Watt didn't play against us at Carlisle. I know it was a forgettable performance by Bowyer's squad that day !

Ha ha, Wyke returning is the most far fetched thing I’ve read on here for a looooong time.

Interview with Levi in today's T&A.

He says that McCall got the best out of him, and interestingly, McCall reverted him back to his preferred midfield role after Graham Alexander had switched him to right back to cover injuries.

So, although he can play both positions, perhaps It is midfield that MCCall will use him more for.

I was thinking that he had been brought in to be first choice right back, maybe we are still in the market for a right back then?

    I'm hoping he isn't 1st choice anything.

Look, football is simple. If he isn't good enough for Scunny then why is he for us?

That might sound harsh but he couldn't really get in there team and if we are just saying come join lad and you will play for us it makes no sense. He needs competition.

If our plan is to sign players like Guthrie, Sutton and bloody Billy Clarke all players that played for worse teams than us then I really can figure out how that will improve us as a side...do you know what it says to me? WE HAVE NO MONEY!

Look at Bolton sign Doyle, Mansfield sign Ollie Clarke, Salford sign Tom Clarke all them players instantly improve their team. Sutton doesn't. He's our Danny Davine.

    Have you seen Sutton play?.

Scunthorpe were negotiating a 2 year contract with him prior to Covid. Scunthorpe can no longer afford to keep him, that's a bit different to them not wanting him, or been good enough for them.

Its madness on their part that Bolton have offered a 3 year contract to Doyle. Doyle had a wonderful purple patch between August and January for Swindon, don't think he scored after they signed him permanently though. Did nothing of note for 2 or 3 seasons before we signed him. Massive gamble for a club who have had recent well documented financial woes

Fordy money does"nt always buy success as we've proved over the years. The best sides we have had have been young players who haven't made it at the clubs they've been at and had a point to prove. This lad might play his socks off for McCall and be a great signing ,nobody knows until the season starts ,and I would definitely prefer a young hungry youngster giving 100% than an overpaid toss pot like Akpan.
