A couple of clowns called Michael and Shaun asking WYSD if starting Cook made us play differently, we had 28 shots with 8 on target, but put it down to Cook starting are these so called fans brain dead.

 

It gave them a great boost. They were set to defend and they did that. We had loads of chances just couldn’t put them away. Our plan to hammer their goal early doors was out of the window.

This is why I've been of the opinion that we'll drift to midtable. We've still got a squad full of L2 players. Byrne, Lapslie, Wright, Kelly, Kav and I'd argue Cook and Walker too. Possibly more.

It's not a sleight on them, just a reflection of where we've been for the last six years. The squad still needs work to be considered a top end L1 squad.

 

Another cup run would have been nice so in that respect today is a disappointment, but personally I'm not too fussed. We are creaking with injuries so getting a free week early next month will be no bad thing imo.
We have hit a bit of a slump. Been hard to beat in the league but no win in 4. Next week is a massive game. Win that and today will be quickly forgotten.

 

Hm second in division one I will take that. Hopefully back to first choice team next week

There was notable improvement in results once he was injured and we went on a winning run and got promoted.
By the way I'm not laying blame on cooks toes today..

 

I'm naturally disappointed but with the caveat that we've come a hell of a long way in 12 months.Hit a bit of a sticky patch at the moment but every team is gonna have one.

Didn’t need one Lincoln are a good team who were in the play offs last season and are up there again. No criticism of Cook he doesn’t need to prove his worth

 

I haven’t seen many mentioning how big a miss Pointon has been. The drop down in quality from him to Kav / Wright is massive

No crisis for me. The four draws in the league were all points we would have gleefully taken before the season started and here we were just incompetent in front of goal. Plus, to be honest for once I'm not bothered about an FA Cup run. More energy now for an unlikely promotion push or going two steps further in the mickey mouse cup.

One thing I have observed, virtually all season and that is if Pointon isn't available for that LF role - we are not as effective, and even worse if both him and Sarcevic are missing.

So if Pointon is back for Burton, let's see how Cooky gets on with two players who play the three up front effectively. As opposed to some thinking that he was the problem today.

However, if Pointon is not we ready then should be starting 3/5/2 as we've got other players who play better in that system, i.e. Pattinson.

3/4/3 can look very ordinary if either or all of the wide midfielders or front three get it wrong. It's not a robust system to be able to fall back onto, when things are going wrong.

So not major issues and we've got the players to make a tweak in the system if needed.

 

Hugely disappointing result and i think it puts everything in context. Good start to the season, nearly secure so we stay up. More squad surgery needed as many are L2 or getting older before next season. Midfield is weak, strikers average in this division and we need some pace in defence. Still smiling though. Come on City

 

At last Kywomia talking sense, if you have a goal scorer with a record like Cook has at Bradford City you'd be silly not to play him, today was the correct call with regards Cook IMO he needs game time, I think next Saturdays starting 11 against Burton will be very different, Neufville, Touray, Pattison, Metcalfe, Pointon, Kelly and J Wright being possible starters.
