Do we have the right squad to persist with the high press?

we seem at our best playing that way when we have our best XI starting but we don’t have a particularly young squad, and we are carrying deadwood leftover from L2.

the press knackers players out and GA is rotating too many positions each week - the defence especially is a shambles.

how do we approach things from here? We’ve had so many injuries already, do we just have to sit though a painful slump into mid-table?!

as soon as Donny brought on Molyneaux and gibson we crumpled. Touray looks shattered. The CBs are all over the shop. Walker’s form has dipped in recent league games. GA still doesn’t know who to partner with Power. Patto seems best option but is made of paper.

 

On the other side of this argument, we have clearly seen that when we don't press we look especially vulnerable and not particularly effective in getting forwards either.

 

Agreed. We don’t have anything going for us at all do we, when not pressing. But the wear and tear takes its toll on Patto and Sarcevic, who are key men.

 

The commentator on Sky said Sarcevic has had an operation on his groin injury,so how long will he be out for?.

 

I think he said a few weeks but don’t quote me on it!

 

GA mentioned it in one of his interviews. As far as I could gather it was more to release fluid than an operation to 'fix' any other damage.

 

He said he was going to be out for a few "days", tbh its good he didn't feature today.. let him rest and unleash him at Bolton
