I felt that too but fair play to Simpson for his positive attitude. I thought Stockport looked very ordinary in both the playoff semis and the final and it will be interesting to see how they recruit I'm the summer. Best team through the playoffs won although Carlisle do seek very reliant on the Owen Moxon.

 

Yes your right we are, 'very reliant'.
Unfortunately I have a feeling that will be his last game in a Cumbrian shirt, as there are a whole host of much bigger clubs watching him. Really can't see us being in the top half of the 1st Division next season, but then again "We've got super Paul Simpson.........................." as the song goes.

 

Moxon only got one year left on his deal? Will you cash in rather than him leave on a free in 12 months?

They need the money so deserve to cash in.

 

There are some pretty good sides in that division but as Morecambe and Accrington showed it is possible to stay up on a reduced budget.

 

Aye your quite right I have absolutely no say in the matter, if he doesn't sign an extended contract, which I believe is in the pipeline then we simply HAVE to cash in, rumours are 2/3 million, this is money a relative small club like ours simply can't afford to turn down.

Well I have it from a very good source, 'a family member' that Swansea had a 2 million offer turned down for him in the January 'window'.

 

January sales are one thing, but in a wide open summer market the price changed. He looks a good player in the making, a fair bit of development to go. £1 to £1.5 mill if a club really needs a player like Moxon.

 

He's had a good season but he ain't worth 2-3 million. Would expect a speculative bid from the likes Peterborough as there is still a bit of meat on the bone regarding a sell on.

 

Aye you have a point however I can only repeat what the family member said.
You also have to take into consideration what the '2' Million entails.
It could be based on appearances, assists, sell on clauses, personal wages, how much is paid 'up front' etc etc.
In a lot of ways, I totally agree 2/3 million is a hell of a lot of money for a player that has spent one season in the 4th tier and the rest of his career in the lower Scottish leagues, however he IS a player that can change games and at time can be devastating in dead ball situations, there will always be some clubs that are willing to take that gamble.

 

Moxon for £2m and get Henderson sold in the summer for £10m and Simpson will have you in the Championship before you know it.

 

He can whip a ball in and ……

 

Moxon looked a very good player but surely nobody is going to pay that sort of money after one good season. A decent fee yes but not Millions but fair play to Carlisle if they manage to get anywhere near

If you guys get 2-3 million for Moxon, who is a good player no doubt about it, Carlisle United will have absolutely wrecked every Bradford City negotiation ever.

I think only the sale of Des Hamilton generated a comparable fee.

Everyone else, we've practically given away - from Andy O'Brien to Nahki Wells, we have never ever capitalised and generated a big fee. Failure after failure after failure.

Could end up being better around a better class of player but from what i've seen i think i don't see him as championship standard. Doesn't take much to stand out in what at times was a pathetic standard of football last season in league 2.

 

Players in L2 almost never go for that kind of money, however good they are. You'll be lucky to get half a million plus extensive add ons. He's good but he's not THE standout player in L2.

 

He can change games in L2, but that's no evidence that he could do it higher up. IF he's still performing as well next season in L1 you might have a point, and he might command a bigger fee in the "Knee jerk window", that is January but if you sell him now you aren't getting anywhere near that money. Dream on.
