Personally I think we will sign a couple of players and just stay up by the skin of our teeth ... But im not confident of this at all

It really could go either way because the players we have are shit ... sorry but theres no dressing it up

I feel we will bring 2 or 3 in, with a decent pedigree player for our level. I feel the club have to make a statement of sorts on the transfer window and Sparks has already made the foolish statement, that we are prepared for January.

I feel we still will stay up, just. Southend are doomed. I'm still confident that we are better than 1 other team but boy, I'm getting nervous.

I'm hoping we can attract quality, but it'll come at a price I hope we're willing to pay. If we do then I think we'll be OK, just. Frustrating to hear him say he didn't want to bring in out of contract players again.

We will have to pay as no-one is going to come for the style of play,(non-existent)big stadium, ( empty) big crowds ( absent) that we supposedly try and use as a draw in previous transfer windows. At this point of any season you still tend to be fishing in the shit pool if you aren’t prepared to back it up with decent money.Hard to attract decent players to a potential relegation battle. Will all the talk be backed up with serious action or will we see the same old scenario of just missing out on the supposed targets and bringing in the usual raft of journeymen and youth.Hope it’s the former or it’s going to be a long and nervy few months.I too think we will be out of the bottom two (just) but it could be made so much easier with some serious investment in our scouting and a detailed transfer plan. Not the usual back of a fag packet approach we have used in the past.

When did City last have a good transfer window? Best we can hope for is dross and a near death experience where we just survive.

I want to see immediate recruitment of someone to help with identifying targets. I just don't trust him to -
    A) Identify the areas that need strengthening.
    B) Identify the right players for said areas.
    C) Convince said players to join the club.
    D) Play said players in their correct positions.

It'll get down to it... just a point or so above the drop zone come January, and desperation will kick in.

We'll go all out and sign two 18 year old's on loan.

    They will make no difference.

Some don't like the way he left us and signed for Parky's Bolton.

I admire him for screwing over Rahic.

    Good lad.

It's come to something when we pin our hopes on a transfer window to survive and preserve our league status.
I ask you who in their right head would sign for Bradford at the minute ?
What's the signing pitch to a player going to be?
    Money,we haven't got non.
Lure of big crowds, well we all know the present answer to that one.
Winning history, consigned to the archives for now.
Relegation fight as opposed to being a promotion prospect.
Pretty bleak outlook, bang in tier three for good measure.
They will be queuing round the block to sign.

On that basis I would say we are very unlikely to prise away any contracted players, which leads us back to free agents. The sooner he signs them the sooner they will be match fit. This has ben obvious to all of us......except Stuart

I just don't see it happening.

Our recruitment over the last however many windows has been shambolic. I don't see that suddenly turning around enough to take this team to a place where it won't struggle to survive.

Our games are pathetically poor. We don't worry opposition. We don't test their keeper. We've been smashed three times at home so far this season by Lincoln, Newport and Oldham (score yesterday didn't reflect the Oldham superiority).

    We're in real trouble.

Got to say that was very very poor yesterday. For me we are 4 players in the starting 11 short of a team that won't go down 2 wide men and 2 strikers. Body language is poor its got that feeling of when we were relegated from league 1 I actually think we are really in trouble this season.

Am afraid that ship has already sailed when we awarded new contracts to Stuart and Kenny, all the talk of a DOF seems untrue was "Jagger" really the right option anyway and can anyone do what's needed as you detail above That's the job of the manager and CEO and at the moment we are relying on us bucking the trend and having a successful transfer window
Stuart's reluctance to consider out of contract players tells me he wants "ready made" replacements who will sign and play for nothing they are very few and far between and we are so far down the pecking order, with that outlook it's highly unlikely this January will be any different
It's going to be a very turbulent season and to be honest we deserve to struggle we must learn to adapt to our predicament and not expect things to change for us Yesterday we looked relegation certainties, thankfully I think Southend have gone and everything hinges on their being another worse team than us
We will survive possibly by the skin of our teeth anything else doesn't bear thinking about but who's to say next season will be any better our problems are not just limited to the 11 on the pitch

Thought it was a new COVID thread and was going to say , no it will just get worse, but as it is about City, my comment is the the same.

No it will just get worse

I just don't see what we have to lose by inviting a handful of free agents to come and train with us on the understanding if they are match fit and show they could make a difference, they will be offered a week by week contract or pay as you play until January. If as Sparks says the number 1 priority is being ready for January, that is exactly what we should be doing.

    Agreed
It's not as if the lack of depth in our squad or that injuries would occur hasn't been apparent for the last couple of months (most on here could see that) had we brought in a couple of free agents to train with us then they would have been ready now to step into the breach
I don't think that for one minute a player would "let himself go" to the extent that it would take any longer to regain match fitness Considering how unfit the likes of Donaldson and co have looked this season we had nothing to loose No idea what was/is behind Stuart's thinking of having a small squad (a not very good one at that) but it's certainly come back to haunt us

Morais was putting the feelers out with that T & A article and only a stubborn idiot wouldnt invite him for a trial. We are desperate for wingers.

DMH is the worst we’ve ever had - worse than Muirhead and Colbeck. All pace but zero end product. Morais isnt getting any younger but he knows how to whip a ball in - a massive improvement on DMH and the made-of-glass Ismael.

Sign him up on trial now. Bloke lives local and even admitted its not about the money.

He was talking yesterday about how many players in the squad we have now are not capable of playing for a full 90 minutes so I think that somewhat negates his argument about free agents not being match fit. If they can manage 20 minutes, they are pretty much on a par with half the squad.
