Is the guy at the EFL setting these deadlines the same one that sets our early bird ST deadlines?

Really heartbreaking for their supporters and staff. I hope the fans can get together and reform a club they can get behind. For many, the saturday ritual is massively important, and it’s gone, just like that.

Might sound harsh. Great news about someone potentially taking the club over and providing a club for the community. However, I don't think they should be reinstated at League 1 level and just pretend that nothing ever happened. The EFL would look weak imo. Bury didn't meet the guidelines so they've received the punishment required. I think they have to stand by their decision and Bury should work their socks off from the bottom tier like other clubs have in recent times.

As you well know, the EFL does have rules for controlling playing costs, known as as SCMP. They are far from perfect and as I've said before, need to be strengthened imo. One of the purposes of SCMP is to bring some discipline into lower league club's fiances and to prevent them living beyond their means. A club which wants to push the boat out and go for promotion without the finance in place to do that is heading for trouble.

One of the key aspects of SCMP is that during the season if an owner or director expects to breach the SCMP cap during the remainder of the season, the club has to notify the EFL. But that is entirely dependent on the honesty of the director in telling the EFL. As with Bury, the real position didn't come to light until after the end of the season and the club's accounts had been provided to the EFL. In my world, I'd expect the EFL rules to be tightened and to take action against an individual director (and not just the club) who fails to inform the EFL in the way it's supposed to happen.

I think Bolton will survive and be fine long term, unfortunately I think Bury are finished which is a big shame I’ve always enjoyed my visits there.

was it back on C&B where a lot of people expressed concern about where they were heading. Didn't they sell lifelong parking spaces as well? As Wilsden says. always enjoyed the visits, always like the people too.

See is that not actually the problem. Everything is too focused on being successful as a football team rather than being run as a good business. There is enough money in the game for clubs to be stable and the owners to get a decent return on their investment if its run sensibly but very few clubs are. I can understand its hard for owners as not only is there that idea that if they spend now and get to the PL quickly there is endless amounts of cash (which there isn't as even most PL teams overspend just to try and stay in the PL) BUT also you have the fans who generally don't care about the financial stability of a club until the clubs about to fold so the owners have pressure to keep spending more.

It's a big reason why we needed FFP regulations in football and much sooner than we got them. It's just a shame that not least because the whole world isn't on the same page there hasn't been a really good way of handling them and certainly not a good way to punish teams for overspending (Fines are pointless, either you are a man city where the fine is pocket change to the owners or it pushes a club further into financial trouble. Docking points is also counterproductive as its likely to put them in a worse situation), even something like a transfer ban doesn't make sense as it encourages the situation where they intentionally spend big one season so any ban that comes doesn't matter as we saw when the big Spanish teams all got transfer bans for their illegal youth signings. Just overspend by buying 2 seasons worth of players and a ban doesn't matter

Different owner, he bought it for a pound, and thought he could re-finance through a CVA, then flog it on, basically a chancer

Bury fans should register Gigg Lane as an asset of community value if they haven't already. It recalls a painful memory from the past. My Dad used to take us occasionally to see Chelmsford City. In the days when you had to seek election to the league despite winning the Southern League as it was then, the chairman actively campaigned amongst football league chairmen not to vote for us. Wimbledon got elected to the league instead and he promptly sold the ground for housing. Despicable. I am sure this was Dale's sole purpose in buying the club for £1 and why he has not been paying wages. He is a crook.

Edit: Just checked and Gigg Lane is registered. He will struggle for planning permission in the short term. The supporters would need to find the money to buy it though, not too easy.

My daughter's fiancee, Josh Hill, played CB for Chelmsford in the second half of the 2017/18 season. He shored up their defence and they raced into the playoffs. They got to the final against Ebbsfleet (featuring Aaron McLean, goal machine, who looked useless as ever). On the morning of the final the manager inexplicably dropped Josh from the settled defence and brought in a returning club favourite CB who'd just come back from a long injury, " for experience", despite Josh having played in two previous playoff finals at that level. They lost to two headers that Josh would have defended in his sleep. C'est la vie.

I saw her on Sky News, pleading for somebody to come and help them, in particular Man City, Man United and Liverpool. I was embarrassed for her, but admired her determination to save her club even if it meant begging for funds from the super rich clubs.

It is dreadful how Bury and Bolton are just disintegrating before our eyes. We have had our fair share of that, and watching it brings back all the anxiety. I don’t rate Bolton’s chances either now Parky has gone he was holding the playing side together, but he has had enough.

So Dale, with 7 hours till the EFL deadline is begging for pledges of £2.7m, having had the last few months to prove to the EFL that he had the funds to run the club. I fear this is the end for them as Dale just seems to be looking at walking away with a pot of cash.

As for should the Neville's stump up? Why? Why should they pump money into a company they don't own so that someone like Dale gets the benefit. Unless Dale goes, and goes for the £1 he put in, as wages haven't been paid by him they have been paid by the PFA and loads of others have been screwed in the CVA where Dale appears to have been able to push the vote through (go look on companies house about the CVA for Bury football club) then why should anyone put anything in whilst he is still there or is set to make a return on holding a club to ransom.
