Its not all about the council speculating, it works with partnerships. A scheme of this magnitude wouldn't just be a 23 day a year football stadium it would be working capital invested through public and private sector funding to create a sporting and retail development. Where i do agree is that it won't ever come to fruition, we've seen recently with the wastage of public money on city park and their wish to demolish the Odeon that in a way the council should never be allowed to speculate with tax payers money because they clearly aren't fit to do so. I do anticipate in 20 years time though the rugby team probably playing at a ramshackle Horsfall and Valley Parade in need of a big refurb.

I don't know enough about it. But surely cutting taxes on large corporations, offering incentives etc to come to the city has to be where it all starts. I think the Bulls situation is indicative of where the whole city is going. Which is a shame because it has been happening for years and no one seems to have a solution.

If these two things were sorted out I think bringing the Bulls to Valley Parade PERMANENTLY could be good for both parties and good for Bradford.
Together we would have more chance of raising the money to spend on the pitch and also to make our stadium even better. For a start if the Council sorted something out with the RFL as regards the lease, they could then sell the tipping rights to Odsal Stadium before eventually selling off the land, that should raise a substantial amount of cash to start with. Even cash strapped councils can find ways to raise finance if the political will is there.
I could see rows of seats taken out of the bottom tier of the Kop to lengthen the playing area and at the Bradford End pull down the TL Dallas Stand and build a new stand that connects the Midland Road Stand to the Main Stand. Imagine the atmosphere that would create.
As for the wear and tare on the playing area, yes we would need to do some more work on the pitch but a couple of things to consider regarding those concerns. First of all Rugby League is mainly a summer sport these days.
Plus rugby players these days are athletes not big lumbering guys going to scrum to scrum. Scrums with big fat guys packing down are a thing of the past. That was what used to be what damaged the pitch in the old days. Now they stand there while the srum half rolls the ball through.
Other clubs have sorted pitch issues out to accommodate both sports. Wigan (eventually!), Huddersfield, Hull, Reading (with London Irish) and there will be others. -
I would think with our lease running out in 8/9 years they would want us comitting to another rental agreenent.
But as you say if there is the will things can be achieved although in this finacial climate it may not be the best time. -
Rfl have only approved bulls moving out for 2020 season
They have been put in special measures until they can show their finances for next season
Lots of players moving on because bulls can not sign or resign players until out of special measures

Interesting report in rugby league paper tonight, Caddick Construction have produced plans to build a 15k stadium on Richard Dunns. They have worked with Bradford Council and forged a relationship. Bradford Council mentioned this week in an interview when the Richard Dunns site is re-developed we will name something after him.

I think we all know that Paul Caddick owns Headingley cricket/ rugby stadium and most of the surrounding Heagingley district.
He has made a fortune out of it but to be honest he has managed it well.
Could be a lot worse than this deal with Caddick Construction. -
It would not be big enough to accomadate Bradfotrd City in the present climate (cheap season tickets), if it is true I would hope Bradford City Football Club request some answers from the council. -
Word is City/Bulls/Council in talks with Caddick Construction to build initial 15,000 seater stadium at Richard Dunn's site. Will be gradually converted to 28,000 seater in final years City's of lease runs out at VP. City will pay cash for extra 13,0000.

You're at it again. You take a 'fact' in the public domain and embroider it to mislead other posters on here. You've been warned in the past about your attempts to wind up other posters and still you do it.
I'll now move this thread to the one which already refers to the same proposal in the Bulls thread. -
The Bulls have released a statement apologising for not paying their staffs pension contributions. Administrative error, they say.
Rotten to the core. -

They still can not sign players but are selling season tickets -
Reading the article in the T&A it sounds like one of the players has found out and has put in notice to terminate their contract because of it.
Also they have struggled financially while not paying the pension contributions correctly so will have to make those good, extra cost, possible fine, extra cost, and all while trying to put together their financial predictions for next year for the RFL. I wonder if it was the RFL that noted the pension contributions were missing from next seasons financial figures? -
