Perhaps…..just perhaps……he could sponsor some of the unemployed? Use his time to generate even more income?

Just think that with his substantial level of income he could sponsor some staff to work at the food larder. Be nice for people who haven’t got a job and he would be putting something into the local community. A mere 1% of £7.2 million would provide enough to pay for four staff for a year. Not tokenism, and still excellent publicity for the man. Helping others to help others, would make a meaningful commitment to the local community.

Anyone else old enough to remember when the abolition of vetos and the creation of an EU army were simply "leaver lies"

But yeah, the infamous bus was the only lie told.

I see all EU member states have agreed to stop getting oil from Russia except Hungary, so the Russian embargo on oil will not happen, I hope the EU are happy with the spilt Ukrainian blood on their oil imports.

EU rules mean it has to be a unanimous decision by all member countries,

Apparently not it has to be all member countries one country vetos it and it doesn't get passed.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if other countries did it individually, Germany quoted they were aiming not to be reliant on Russian oil by the end of the year so it would be interesting to see what happens if decisions were taken by individual EU member countries.

Individual countries can make unilateral decisions. Please educate yourselves.

This is about an EU wide directive, a symbolic unified gesture. Hungary are once again showing their true colours.

It might be wise to think about the significance of a veto here and all the 'ruled by brussels' statements made over and over again. Britain had veto's and used them often. Its not a power unique to that of hungary.

But yeah, keep blasting the EU years after we have left. Its almost like you are being defensive over the fact the only brexit dividend you can speak of right now is that you have a crown on your pint glass and can order milk by the gallon.

An EU WIDE plan. Does not stop individual states from acting unilaterally.

Surely that would go against the whole principle of being a member of the EU, if say 20 EU countries acted unilaterally whilst 6 didn't, or in this situation 25 EU countries were in unison but Hungary weren't.

The UK will be free of Russian oil by the end of this year were told, its not great but thank goodness we don't have the same dependency as some other European countries, as it is a commodity that all countries need to keep there economises going I say if we can become none reliant on Russian oil that will be a step in the right direction, where as Poland receives about 40% of its natural gas from Russian, Bulgaria relying on Russia for 77% of its gas.

Other nations with significant dependence include Finland 94%, Latvia 93%, Serbia 89%, Estonia 79%, Slovakia 70%, Croatia 68%, Czech Republic 66%, Austria 64% and Greece 51%.

Other EU countries Germany and Italy are the most exposed to Russian influence on 49% and 46% respectively, compared to France on 24% or the UK on just 5%, but are saying as with the UK they will be trying to have no oil from Russia as they are trying to source other supplies.

A Russian spokesperson was on the radio a week or so back. He thought the situation was laughable. He said everybody will still buy Russian oil. The only difference is that they will buy it through a third party and pay more for it. I'm no expert but it sounds plausible.

Serbia ignores EU sanctions, secures gas deal with Putin (msn.com)
BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — As the war in Ukraine rages, Serbia's president announced that he has secured an “extremely favorable” natural gas deal with Russia during a telephone conversation Sunday with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Spain and Portugal to slash energy bills by 40% by breaking ranks with EU (msn.com)
Spain and Portugal have broken ranks with the EU to allow themselves the space to slash their energy bills by 40 per cent. The move is being allowed because both southern European countries have a large amount of renewable energy and aren't as reliant on fossil fuels as the rest of the Continent.

What ever happened to this closely knit community with their "one for all and all for one" BS.

True, but cant you see the contradiction in your argument. Your pointing out the EUs flaws whilst ignoring the very same flaw the UK has.

I try to be balanced. Give me a good result of brexit and I will say well done. Because I want the best for the country. It just seems you want to bash the EU and support decisions that make the country worse in order to justify your opinions of the EU.
