Watch my lips I wasn't suggesting you was defending their actions.

That seems like a severe case of whataboutery.

Who knows what would happen here. Let's not confuse what's happening by making up imaginary scenarios.

Let's just say that it's an unpleasant and difficult to justify situation and leave it at that.

It's the outrage I was commenting on. People criticising Italy for what we known damn well we'd have done had we been in the same position. People supporting Brexit who seem to have no problem with us breaking international law when it suits us but howl with rage when Italy do likewise.

Do we actually 'know' it or does it just suit the standard purpose of deflecting anything negative onto the UK?

Oh FFS.You know perfectly well we'd have done the same. It's the faux outrage (because it's the EU) over something we'd also have done in their circumstances, that sticks in the craw.

I don't know it. But whether I do or not makes no difference.

Why are we speculating about your made up situation rather than just talking about the one that is actually happening. It's weird.

I'm not outraged. I just know it's not right. I assume you know the same.

Of course it's not right. I made that clear. But when people who support us breaking international law over Brexit and have no problem with us stockpiling millions more vaccine doses than we need, start criticising Italy for prioritising their own population it just strikes me as a bit off, ok?

That's a different issue. Let's not conflict them.

Seizing private assets and stopping the vaccination program of other countries when the EU aren't even using all the vaccines they have is different from delaying an arbitrary deadline which would cause shortages in part of the UK.

There's no need to mix them up.

We actually did block exports of the Oxford vaccine to the EU until the contracted deliveries were first made to the UK and that is on top of hundreds of other medicines

I think most on here will think that but then they are made up of your brothers in arms. You have your little safe bubble here and thats good for you. Im happy being an individual, its OK if you are too scared to do that. Dont worry.

You did confirm my point. You are in favour of a trade war between western powers. In my circle, maybe not yours, thats seen as a childish view. You cant see why its childish but it really is. The EU are our competition now that is true but not as much as Russia and China who will love to see a destabilised west.

People like you 'IN MY OPINION' are contributors to it. There's a phrase in politics called False Consciousness, I think you've fallen prey to it. By definition you will disagree but then that just proves my point even further.

Of course you are right and any sane person would agree. But Brexit brings out the crazy in people. And most people cant admit when something they want to be right is wrong.

If we had messed up our vaccine acquisition and vials were going to be leaving these shores for the EU. Then every single poster on here would be up in arms telling the Navy to go get them back.

Its pure doublethink, they dont get it. And supposedly we are the weird ones.

Because of a word called 'Hypocrisy'

Anyone with a shred of integrity would not complain about the Italians doing something they would have been happy for the UK to do. And has done, in order to secure its own national interest.

If you are happy dancing around words, being super literal and/or obfuscating the truth then so be it. Its your own integrity in question not anyone elses.

It's called "protectionism"all countries do it the EU being one of the biggest culprits.
A lot of assumptions there you dont know me apart from my posts on a forum, so most of your reply carries little substance or credability.

I think you'll find that the US has simply 'suspended' the tariffs on UK goods rather than 'lifted' the tariffs and that was a couple of months after the UK agreed to suspend its tariffs on US goods. The US has also suspended tariffs on EU goods as well. The UK hasn't been treated any differently just because we have left the EU.

Have a read here for thge complete picture

Its not protectionism as they were preventing exports. You might want to look up the definition.

In terms of substance and credibility. It might help if you were more politically literate and therefore able to have a real world conversation.

You have been up in arms about third country rules which you voted for and wanted in place.

Up in arms about the EU wanting to break international law but happy for the UK to do so.

Its like you dont actually know what you voted for and/or want. But lets not go down that path.

    @Bronco@Bronco

So the fact that you were wrong on this occasion coupled with the glee you had in the EU being done over by USA has proven that you were simply in it to see the EU suffer.

    IN MY OPINION

    I know; I can read.

The important point is that the US is not dealing with the UK any differently from how it is dealing with the EU on import tariffs.
