Whatever the merits of the vehicle being stopped, then I struggle to see why Bradford City, should become involved.

BRE as I understand it, is 'furloughed'. His journey would be nothing to do with work

BRE as a private individual, has the right to seek legal advice on his own. There is no need for City to become involved.

I assume that BRE is a member of the PFA. You would think that his membership of that body, would include free legal advice and if appropriate support.

Like a number of others on here, then my view is that if City have so much money spare, to seek to become involved in something which is a private matter, then I may well ask for my season ticket money, to be credited towards the cost of next seasons ticket.

There is something not quite right here. If this car's registration really had been linked to firearms and tagged accordingly, the last thing I'd want to be doing as an unarmed copper is stopping a tagged car with even the possibility of an armed occupant inside. I'd be handing the problem over to armed police and not leaving it to somebody holding a bloody taser.

Call me cynical, but it always seems to be specific races of men (often driving a nice vehicle) that are stopped by the police because of these 'drug and firearm markers'.

Anecdotal I know, but I've driven decent company and leased vehicles for 25 years, never had one stop where I've been cuffed and had a taser pointed at me. Can't be due to size as I'm of a similar build to BRE. None of my friends and family (that I know of) have had anything similar either.

Weird how if they believed he was a dangerous individual that the relevant arm of the law wasn't involved too. It's almost like they've concocted their excuse after they discovered that he was semi famous and would be publicising his experience.

Jesus H Park! He didn’t commit a traffic offence! There was a firearms marker on the car. He was handcuffed because of a risk of a firearm being in the vicinity. Once it was determined there wasn’t he was free to leave the scene. He wasn’t aggressive and neither were the police, who diffused the potential situation well.

Similar to you, I've been stopped in my car 3 times and once in person. All four times they explained why but 3 of them could be described as spurious and wouldn't have been accepted if i was BAME in the current climate. On all occasions I'd done nothing wrong although on one occasion they eventually did try to get me for driving without insurance but didn't know that when they pulled me over.

The fact is that all "random" stops by the police are based on an element of profiling, that's just realism. Even down to the clothes you wear will effect how you're perceived.

The only element of profiling that is currently deemed unacceptable is race, differentiating by sex is a much larger "discrimination" issue but is seen as fine and justified.

I am absolutely in agreement that things need to be equalised but it's very tricky. We're almost getting to a stage where I could be wrongly stopped and have no recourse but a BAME person is stopped in exactly the same situation and has access to legal recompense. That is tricky to balance and makes it impossible to police.

The only way to truly stop any element of profiling is to stop random actions by the police but I don't see any will for that at all from any part of the community.

Completely disagree. It has been stated he was stopped because of a firearms marker, but you are suggesting he was stopped because he was black. Let’s see what come out in the wash

Anyway, forget his dodgy car, I’d arrest BRE for impersonating a professional footballer.

What’s in it? The same as ‘what’s in it’ for where we’re seeing the same elsewhere. It’s virtue signalling, grand standing stuff. Maybe the club believe it’ll make them more attractive to sponsors, or players of colour, or maybe they’ve just jumped on the same band wagon as a number of other businesses and organisations.

Fairer system of policing? Are you for real? A firearms marked vehicle was stopped. Driver was secured in cuffs until vehicle searched and paperwork examined/confirmed. Then occupants were released. Far too many policemen are subject to horrendous attacks and this could easily have been another. Nobody was hurt except poor BRE's feelings and pride in front of girlfriend. If this had been me stopped in a firearms marked vehicle, would the world stop spinning. Nope. World's gone crazy.

Rubbish indeed. Look, whatever the outcome on BRE's car stop situation, I really get narked about the bizzy bee little hive of contributors on here who slag off our players because they're nothing more than Lg 2 standard. That's where we are! BRE is bloody big, muscles players out, has a big boot on him. You might not like it. You might wish we could afford players of talents above this, but his style suits us right now for where we are in the khazi league.

Yeah, you'd be totally calm at having your time wasted and potentially facing unknown repurcussions for doing absolutely nothing.

    People talk such crap.

Most people can't handle being arrested for actually doing something wrong, let alone for going in a shop.

Maybe the police didn't do anything wrong, but the 'he shouldn't have minded' line is utter crap, sorry French Bantam.

Especially when two sportspersons had the same sort of trouble last week. And especially when racial profiling is on everyones minds.
On a lighter note (no pun intended), what a big fecker he is!! I thought you had to be six foot to get into the police, and he totally dwarves that copper next to him. Even more of a reason to arrest him for impersonating a footballer. Absolutely no excuse being beaten in the air when you are that size!

I'm wondering how relevant to the original stop the firearm marker is in this case as it seems they felt pretty confident pulling the vehicle over. Not the actions usually of local plod when a possible gun could be invovled.
