Worth a giggle, now a days not see many clubs convert players to different positions. Was chatting to youngest earlier when we did it with Phil Babb can't remember reason why we did but ended up finishing season with 10. Before ending up back at centre half and moved on to Liverpool and Coventry.

Wondered if BRE to get back in team would not mind a go. Can't see paudi or others

We already have tall and powerful strikers so I can't see what he would offer us up front unless Donaldson and Guthrie were simultaneously injured.

I seem to recall we did something similar with Andy Tod as well? Signed him as a defender from a Scottish club and then decided to play him up front for a few games because he could score a few headers.

Andy Tod......sorry to bring that one back up.
I saw him play one game, I’d been away travelling, and he leapt up like a salmon in the last minute at Rotherham to slap the ball and give them a late penalty. I judged on first and last impressions.....
Think Jewell used Wetherall once or twice as well if I’m not wrong.

McCall played Kight-Percival up front for a couple of games before when Hanson was out I seem to recall so anything could happen.

Strong but immobile strikers aren't really in short supply at city at the moment though.

Luke Oliver - used by both Peter Taylor and Parky in that role

Bazza Conlon built an entire career based on him playing out of position as a striker

BRE is a big unit that with coaching would cause lots of problems if used as a substitute when needed to break defenses down, Stuart should try him in a few training games or friendlies to see if he can adapt, Pace he has little but certainly would have presence and cause centre backs mayhem allowing others to take advantage

P.S. Not just thrown in there but coached to do a job for the team

Just get any player available and train him do something else. Wonder why no one's ever thought of this before.....

Not quite any player, one that physically fits the position and could be adapted, It has worked before with many sides,

Think Chris Sutton and Paul Warhurst started out at the back then went on to bang a few in upfront? That was yonks ago though

He’d just give fouls away up top - too clumsy to be a forward.
Sign a forward with pace - add something we don’t have!

Elsewhere maybe, but not really with us. If you're thinking of defender <-> forward switches, we've only had the one who was an unqualified success: Joe Cooke, as mentioned by @Mickey bantam@Mickey bantam above. Otherwise, you could also call Charles Moore (forward to halfback) and some midfielder-defenders (e.g. Garry Watson, Greg Abbott) successes, but that's about it. Out of some 1300 players for us so far, that's not very encouraging; we'd better be after a purpose-built striker!

I’m sure Carl Shutt went in net for us once. I’m thinking Wolves away, surely I didn’t imagine it !
