First day back. In Bradford working for some time and what an utter joke. Wakefield Road/Tong Street completely gridlocked due to numerous road works and what the hell is that cycle lane? Bradford as a business entity is just pointless now, the lack of a coherent transport system should put off any business thinking of locating here. Also went into Bradford for the first time in a long time to watch the football, christ the place is like the land that time forgot.

Yes, I went into Bradford a couple of weeks ago for the first time in over a year. Bleak.

Even the approach to The Broadway shopping centre was filthy, litter everywhere on a Sunday morning. To be fair, Manchester is no different.

I once suggested to the council to put more and bigger litter bins in the city centre, They replied that it was a good idea but could not afford staff to empty them, It is an unkempt, Unloved shithole and the council takes most of the blame

Wait until the new boys school opens up on Thornton road and roads around there.

    Gridlock is the word.

There's no logic to anything planned in Bradford. The place is on its arse and money should not be wasted on pointless buildings, housebuilding in areas where its stupid to build them when there is no improvement to road system infracteuctures and public transport. But then it's Bradford Council isn't it who have a track record of sheer incompetence.

What a joke of a City Bradford is becoming, England play in the Euro final yet no big screen the council don't allow mass gatherings to take place in City Park.
Yet yesterday a meeting with regards "Free Palestine" is allowed to go ahead even though "Bradford Council says a rally due to take place in City Park this afternoon was arranged without the authority's involvement".
The question should be asked it the meeting did not get authorization from Bradford Council why was it allowed to continue ?.

Skirted round the town centre making my way to the game today. Passed by the Alhambra and glanced across City park , crikey. There were more people in the water than there were in our ground.

Is that really what the thing was built for, one big giant play area?

Last March i came over, drove the "scenic route" to Halifax. Little Horton Lane, Southfield Lane, Great Horton Road. All I can say is it's changed in the last 20 years. This concept of turning a blind eye to traffic chaos in certain locations is mind bogglingly crass.

I ventured into Bradford last week for the first time since Feb 2020. Big City fan but I live out of the area. It’s a hole isn’t it?

Ilkley is in Bradford and has a Leeds postcode. A point that gives me great satisfaction.

I have this discussion with my old fella. Ilkley is not part of Bradford, its merely part of the Bradford metropolitan district and has the same post code in parts. The vast majority of the city of Bradford is a rancid shithole whereas a lot of the post codes are nice areas.

    Exactly.

It's link to Bradford is being lumped into an administrative district, it's no more "part of" Bradford than Sydney is.

Pre 1976, the Bradford boundary was just before Shipley Fields Road, if you are looking at the old Council area. So Shipley, Baildon, Bingley, Keighley, Menston, Burley, Addingham etc were not a part of the historic City of Bradford.

I'd say all of those places would happily remove themsleves from the rule of the metropolitan district if given the chance.

Correction…..a small number of Bradford postcodes are rancid shitholes. Sadly BD8 is one of them
