Its not all the councils fault but in Queensbury and all in fairly recent times we've lost, the council tip, the bank, the big post office (replaced by a small counter in a corner shop), the swimming pool, Victoria hall is closing (or already closed), 90% of the pubs, the children's parks are unusable, the unadopted roads are worse than ever and all while they grant planning permission for new housing estate after new housing estate and then decide we should pay 15% more for the facilities they aren't providing because of the huge waste elsewhere.

It'd be funny if it didn't make you so angry.

I wouldn't leave anything in the hands of the council, and I mean nothing. Most useless set of corrupt arseholes you could wish to meet. I do agree some things are out of their hands, consecutive government have run this country into the ground, crazy green policies and no long term plans of how to get this countries economy going in the right direction other than to penalise existing businesses. Economic growth should be a priority over anything else, unless you are growing in an expanding world your working citizens will just keep paying more to for rapidly decreasing public services.
The whole thing is an absolute shambles.

The comments so far are all fair, I think many more will be added over time which will show you the strength of feeling.

I could just about stomach an increase of that level if I saw a ray of sunshine down the track, but we have Susan Hinchcliffe who is heavily involved in the unfolding disaster appearing to stay on regardless of the damage she has done. Utterly useless and won't last 10min in the private sector.

Days after Star Hobson was murdered she announced she was to stand for West Yorkshire Mayor, and the report into child services further down the line listed a catelogue of failures in that case alone where warnings and concerns were ignored. Ofsted said there was a total failure of leadership and things had gotten worse before children's services were finally relieved from the control of Bradford Council. Did anyone resign? No. The CEO disappear into retirement with a massive pension and was given the chair job on City of Culture whilst Hinchliffe oversees disaster after disaster, from One City Park being half unlet, to Bradford Live standing Empty, to £35m in council tax being not collected.

This City is fecked with the patients running the asylum.

Time for action from my perspective. Always had an opinion on this useless set of incompetents but paid my dues as a law abiding citizen. This is the straw that broke the camels back, i see millions of pounds every year wasted, figures quoted of 65% spent on social care. I've had enough, this needs challenging and campaigning against. Every extra penny my family and many just like me will have to pay in extra tax won't even touch the sides of the millions wasted year after year. How many of those extra payments does it take to pay the salaries of the pathetic Hinchcliffe and ARS?

The council tax rise and the way City hall is run is something people should be protesting about as it effects everyone that lives here. Something that will get noticed and maybe have some positive change.

Unfortunately people seem to protest about things they can't control like wars in other countries or Trump etc.

Here the reply from my constituency MP :
    Dear Mr ******,

Thank you for contacting me regarding the proposed increase in Bradford’s Council Tax and sharing your views.

As your Member of Parliament, I do not have any say in Bradford Council’s budget. I do appreciate and share your concerns, however, over any increase in Council Tax or indeed any other increase in costs that impact on ordinary households and working people.

I know that the decision of the Secretary of State to agree to Bradford Council’s request to raise Council Tax by more than 4.99% is not one that was taken lightly.
This is after Starmer said Labour would NOT RAISE COUNCIL TAX.
The ability for councils to request additional increases already existed, but the new government has been clear that it intends to take a stricter approach that puts taxpayers at its heart. This means avoiding excessively high increases, and only agreeing increases where councils have comparatively low existing levels of tax and plans in place to protect the vulnerable.

Bradford’s council tax is currently £145 below the national average for metropolitan district councils,
and the lowest in West Yorkshire. and Bradfordian's are amongst the lowest paid in Yorkshire. Bradford is one of only six councils in the country which are being allowed to increase beyond 4.99% this year.

Government is mindful also of the of the enormous hit that Council finances in general have taken over the past 14 years, and the need to get local government and indeed all our other public services back on their feet.

There is no silver bullet that will solve the difficulties that need to be addressed, and this year’s Local Government Finance Settlement is the start, not the end, of the process of reform and renewal. The settlement begins the task of putting councils on a sounder financial footing for the long term.

Thank you again for contacting me and sharing your views.

    Yours Sincerely

Well they all lined up and followed Hinchcliffe's orders and voted to increase council tax by 10%. Hinchcliffe actually made a point to say it was children's and Adults social care which are the biggest costs to try deflect from the shitshow of regeneration spending (another story is in todays T&A about the Darley Street fiasco).

So Susan, who was leader from 2016 till now when a report on Children's services in 2018 said it was terrible, and a follow up in 2020 confirmed it has got worse. Yes Susan that would be you. In any other line of work losing control of an entire arm of the council would see people sacked, it's not like losing a set of keys.

There were protests last night and the police even got involved to remove them so these chinless wonders could kiss Hinchcliffe's arse and protect her job.

Shocking, they are banking on people having short memories due to no elections until next year due to the 3 years out of 4 election cycle. Even so Hinchcliffe, Ross Shaw, etc seat is safe. In Windhill they would vote in Peter Sutcliffe if he wore a red rosette.

Hinchcliffe and Ross-Shaw are the epitome of the UK in 2025, utterly useless but get paid a kings ransom to do it.

It was good to see that when they announced someone from the council to speak they were booed out of sight tonight so they just went and spoke to Graham Alexander instead.

Bit out of order that bit tbh because she has nothing to do with decisions made by the council, she's more like an ambassador.

Fair play to her for not saying anything after her position was, ahem, misinterpreted poor lady.

It's a bit like booing Billy Bantam.

She's a Labour Councillor, and yes this year she is in an honour position she's been a Councillor as long as Hinchcliffe has been leader and is part of the yes men/women of the past.

The leader did well to steer clear based on that reception, who is the one who has done untold damage to the City.

Hinchcliffe was in the crowd, noticed her about 20 feet to the left of me. Didn't see her holding a pyro or chanting she wants to go on the piss with Sarcevic #plasticfans
