As Mellon will know the strength and weakness of the ex Burnley defender Benn Ward , this would be an ideal match for him to be in the starting 11.

Or.... there's always Tommy Leigh, who played for Accrington last season. He might have more knowledge of strengths and weakness of the whole team?.....

I hope it looks worse than it is and he is fit and ready to go. That said I imagine he can expect more of the same. He must be such a pain in the arse for defenders, forever hassling and in their faces. I'm sure more than one will want to let him know he's not going to have an easy time of it

If he is out, i think Mellon has to start. i know Tommy Leigh played for these as well, but he just does not look like he has a goal in him
    Tidy footballer or not.
    Square pegs in square holes
    Hope he proves me wrong
We need to win this and keep up the momentum and pressure, Saturday at Newport will not be easy, they have found some form and our away form is still pretty poor.

I did wonder if that was in Anthony Occonor's mind with the slightly naughty challenge. Slow kav down a bit or taken off completely

If Kavanagh is fit to start I think he starts. Watching Alexander on Tuesday one quite a few occasions he was shouting at both Mellon and Leigh to be stronger and look after the ball after they lost it cheaply so I'm not sure Alexander will trust either with a start yet. Mellon also looked very miserable at the end of the game and was way ahead of the rest of the team going into the changing room, I worry that he's already getting demoralised.

Only changes I possibly see are Huntington in for Crichlow if Alexander thinks the game will suit Huntington more or he's not sure if Crichlow is ready to do 3 games in a week. The other one change that could happen is Walker in for Sarcevic if there is a doubt over Saracevic's fitness after Saturday.

Anyone else already looking a little worried by Mellon? I know he hasn't played much, but he hasn't looked like he's wanting it either. He hasn't come in and pressed like he wants the shirt. He isn't getting on the ends of things. He isn't making a lot of runs.

I'm by no means writing him off as it's so soon into his run here, but I really hope he shows some intent. He looked very uninterested on Saturday. His first loan at Morecambe wasn't a success, he was in and out through injuries at Dundee and couldn't break into the Stockport side. Hopefully he can find that second Morecambe loan form here between now and May.

I still think the lack of a striker replacement for Cook is going to cost us. Had Harrogate equalised on Saturday which Sanderson should have ,I couldn’t see us scoring again to win the game as Leigh and Mellon just didn’t look like getting us a second goal.

I did not get that impression
The team as a whole were pretty poor second half and he was feeding off scraps.

No one can write Mellon or Leigh off Mellon has played what 60 minutes of football and TBF to the lad he tried a few nice touches around the box that unfortunately didn't come off had they done so we could have seen further chances in front of goal. As for Leigh he has played in several positions in 3 different games left of the main forward right of the main forward and been the forward himself so how anyone can fully judge him is beyond me. Personally I think they're both very good players but need more game time and in their correct position before we can write them off.

GA alluded to the fact that the new players (assuming he meant Leigh and Mellon) haven’t quite understood what’s required of them yet, or words to that effect. I’m sure it will come. Whenever anyone starts a new job it can take a few weeks to settle in - same with footballers no doubt.

As I indicated I didn’t see it Andy. Yes he was feeding of the long ball.
