Although there's definitely a valid claim for a penalty, when it's struck from only 5 yards away, then they are rarely given. Certainly wasn't arm to ball, more the other way round. Correct decision not to award it in my opinion.

Would have been given with VAR intervention in the Premier League

The proximity issue is irrelevant when the arm is being used as an extension of the body to make yourself a bigger obstacle. You can't just stand up an attacker who is about to get a shot off and stand there with your arm outstretched. His arm is up for a long time anticipating the shot going in that exact direction. Having seen the replays and the stills it is an absolute nailed on penalty. We got away with it. The ref couldn't see it as he was wrong side of the incident to get a decent view. You've got to at least ask the question, 'why is his arm in that position'?

Gets given 9 times out of 10. Anyone who doesn't think it was I don't want to see them complaining if we get a similar shout later in the season.

I’m not getting involved;) The ref was in the wrong place completely to judge, unsighted , arm hidden by body ,then the law says don’t give it I believe? Did we get away with one ..probably . It won’t be the last this term and it will be the same for us.

Yeah the rose tinted specs syndrome. I tend to dismiss a lot of fans opinion for this very reason.

The trip that gave away the free kick that led to their goal was deliberate. Generally I had a positive impression of Wright but there were odd moments of worry that I hope will disappear as he gets back into this level of English football. Someone mentioned to me that he didn't win any/many of his headers.

Having watched most of the league 1 highlights there are a few worse defensive performances than ours today.
Plymouth and Blackpool in particular were all over the place defensively. I thought that despite some dodgy moments, Wright and Pennington did very well whilst Tilt, although strong, is a red card/penalty waiting to happen.
Back to the highlights and I don't see anything to fear as yet, apart from Huddersfield who were terrific. It's only one game though and we'll have a better idea of how we might fair after another couple of games.
All round it was a good game to watch with some outstanding performances.

I think it was a pen, but I don’t care. We have had loads over the years that we’re not given, and by this ref.. I fully expect to have one or two similar decisions go against us, and yes of course I will moan. As a City Fan, I am clearly biased but in my view it is my job to support team. Not interested in being on right side when it comes to football, unless it is violent conduct.

I thought Wycombe worth 2 pens yesterday. Tilt looked to clumsily bring their forward down in 1st half. Again, only seen it live.

Just watched all the highlights. Cardiff look the best by some distance but I guess that shouldn’t be much of a surprise. We were solid and physical with the usual high press, play like that all year and you just never know….

Yesterday’s match was great to watch. It was exciting. It was great seeing all the players doing well, but especially the new players. Humps was outstanding, Josh Nuefville was a joy to watch. Joe Wright was really good, the VP brick wall. So not only a great watch but the best result as well.

Exactly. This happens a lot with referees. It's an unfortunate (or fortunate in this case) consequence of the limitations in the way games are officiated. Ironically, we have a far better view up in the stands than the poor sod on the pitch who has to make the decisions. I look forward (kind of) to future refereeing debates this season.

A fair shout, had a little pause when I saw it but one of those that probably goes in the defenders benefit more often than not.

It wasn't a muddled clearance. It was a tackle. Arguably, good anticipation from the defender that Humphrys would try and turn and shoot and he was ready and tackled him. Nice and cleanly.

Not criticising or down-playing anyone's performance, just trying to present the facts.

Very pleased both our goals came from shots on the edge or outside the box. We havent shot enough from further away for quite some time.

Yeah, maybe I'm putting a bit of a spin on it and realised that 'muddled clearance' was a bit generous. However, either way you look at it, he affected the play. His drag back was a good piece of work that necessitated the tackle in the first place. His all round game was a significant contributing factor in us winning that game regardless of whether he scored or registered any assists.

Not a million miles from where I sit, it wasnt a foul, the lad went down as soon as Tilt tried moving in. He is a very heavy handed defender, but thats wasnt a pen. From memory Tilt actually got a foot to the ball with his left then forced the defender off balance and he went down too easily. Although the ref was blowing for everything in open play.

Handball was more likely to be a pen and probably should have been. Striker still has to score it mind you even if its given.

It’s what you do with it that counts. Wycombe constantly played out from the back whilst we drive forward balls in possession.
