That was my thought, although it did look a good shout for a penalty ignoring the build up.

It'll take a couple of games with the new back three playing together until we can work out if they're up to it or not.

What's good is we had starters from last season watching on e.g. Pattison, Richards, Kelly who'll be scrapping to get back into the team.

If we say the ball hit elbow rather than elbow hit ball would we say a pen? It would have been ridiculously harsh , however not sure with refs these days .

Just got home from the game. Disappointed how we lost all composure early 2nd half and resorted to hopelessly lumping it forward, but overall a great performance. We shouldn't be worrying about relegation if that is the standard.

Neufville was outstanding, what a signing. He caused problems everytime he got the ball. Humpreys met expectation and was very busy. Leigh had a solid game despite my doubts. Tilt was good at times, but he's going to give away penalties this season if he keeps defending like that. He muscles his body in front of the ball at all costs. More trigger happy refs might blow for it.

Ive come to the conclusion that that is just how he is.

Some folk are like that. Look permanently knackered but have the stamina to just keep running.

I like the ref to be 100% certain for a pen. I worried he would give it but glad he set a high bar. As soon as your arm is up and away from your body though it's a risk. I had my heart in my mouth for a good few seconds. Huge appeal from their players. I'll go against my better judgement here but I'm going to say it anyway - 'there'd be absolute hell on in this forum if that was one of their defenders and we hadn't got the penalty.

Only seen it in real time from the Kop, but looked a nailed on penalty to me.

Can't ask for a better start than that result wise Neufville was class Leigh outstanding Humphrys out muscling their defence showing how big a powerhouse he is going to be and so unlucky with not scoring in 2nd half. Pennington and Wright solid at the back.

Only downside and I might be being harsh but felt tilt although he dominates physically he worries me when he has time to think or if someone is quicker than him he panics but getting points on the board against team likely to be challenging then it's been a great day.

Great first half, poor second half. 3pts.

Neufville is goung to be a menace and a nightmare for the opposition this season. Absolutely superb and does everything a wing back should.

Hopefully all that nonsense about Bobby and Humphrys competing for a shirt can be put to bed - for now.

Great result and good start. Not sure about Power and Tilt who both seemed a yard slow in their reactions to ball and we're caught out. Tilt is a no nonsense defender but league 2 level ability wise. Power probably needs a few games to get up to speed.

I thought we were superb in the first half. A bit baffled why no subs were made after Wright.
What on earth was wrong with Wycombe's bench? In the ear of the 4th official throughout, 1 of them got booked and one of their subs squared up to Colin Doyle over something.
Great goals from Sarcevic and Pointon. The build up to both was superb.

    Random musings...

Nuefville has the xfactor. Humphrys has a lot of tools in his locker, put in a hell of shift. Strong press first half, battled hard second half.
Not sure on the three centre backs. Tilt and Wright both look ponderous at times, teams with pacy attacks will have a field day. Power and Leigh both looked solid if unspectacular.

Probably a good time to play Wycombe without their star striker, will have money to strengthen from his upcoming transfer.
Great 3 points and an entertaining game,.can't ask for much more.

Good game, so impressive first half and really had enough chances to put it out of reach. They were always gonna come at us second half and we were hanging on a bit in the end.

Decent enough debuts from all our new players but Neufville wow if he keeps up that level of performance what an exciting player to have! Best I've ever seen Leigh play, definitely seems suited to central midfield

They reminded me very of MK Dons pretty football with little end product, having said that any team would have missed their 20+ goal scorer from last season.

Reading their forum ….Several seem to want to buy our “ right winger” . Hate to tell the kids but he’s a wing back and making his debut , his name is Josh Neufville . He had them toast throughout . What a brilliant signing!

They had a pacy attack RT! . What Tilt lacks in pace against these guys he makes up for nous , positional sense and what we have missed for a long time ….the dark stuff.

Fantastic start. Great to get off the mark straight away against one of the fancied teams in the league.

The pressing was superb in the 1st half and Wycombe struggled to cope with it.

I noticed that we appeared to have a shoot on sight approach today, which was refreshing.

Neufville man of the match today for me and probably everybody else.

Strong performances from Humphrys, Pointon and Sarcevic.

I think the defence needs a bit more time to bond as a unit, which is understandable as they were all new signings.

Tilt was better than what a lot of fans were saying when we signed him.

Touray, whilst not as eye-catching as Neufville, was good and my impression is he will be a consistent steady performer, which is probably why he was a regular for Stockport for a couple of seasons.

I think Power needs a bit more time to re-adjust to the fast paced English football, I thought he was a bit indecisive at times, but Im sure he will do a good job for us.

A good afternoon all in all and it was great to be back at Valley Parade.
