Only a couple of days to 2025, the year of city of culture. I can hardly contain my excitement.

 

As a family we moved to HD6 20 years ago.

We are thinking of moving back to a BD postcode for a year to get the absolute benefit of what promises to be a very exciting and inspirational 365 days.

 

And you've got another 5 mill to spaff as of this morning

Seen a couple of TV pieces about it today on the news. Guessing this is the big PR push

So by my basic GCSE maths 1,000 events equates to about 2.75 a day every day for a year. 3.3 million visitors over those events is 3,300 per event, £140 million into the local economy see each visitor spending on average £42. To put that in perspective one of the top destinations in Europe, Budapest, had 5.3 million tourists visit in 2023.

 

All the MP’s and officials happy to shout from the rooftops but all surprisingly quiet when people were questioning the Bradford Live debacle.

The numbers quoted are absolute pie in the sky.

 

It's about 9,000 a day lol. I know the intelligence levels in Bradford are probably the lowest in the country but do they really expect anyone to believe what they've quoted? It's the equivalent of about three Bradford live shows a day for a year.

 

In perspective that's less than the combined crowds at last seasons 7 London EPL clubs

I’ll be in Centenary square from dinner time.
If you can think of owt better than being in the centre of Bradford in sub zero temperatures then fine but I’m embracing this year and it’s obvious benefits for the entire population of the city.

I’m going down tonight for the opening ceremony. Got a free OAP ticket but made a £5 donation.
Not sure how long I’ll last there in the sub zero temperatures though. Apparently there are high wire artists and suchlike; don’t envy them having to perform in such cold conditions.

 

It seems our beloved council is throwing a lot of effort into clearing the streets and pavements around the City centre for this event.
I think a lot of people think Dynamo is going to be present but the blurb just says he helped arrange it.
Wild horses wouldn't get me down there.
