Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Executive for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “The Leeds Road corridor is one of the main gateways into the city and an important economic area where the vibrancy of Bradford’s South Asian population is showcased.

“The area boasts top class restaurants and cafes alongside specialist retailers catering to a UK market for jewellery, homewares, fabrics and the important Asian wedding market. “We have been working with local businesses in Leeds Road to promote it as a specific visitor destination locally, regionally and nationally.

“We're now seeking specific marketing expertise to support delivery of this work as part of the wider visitor economy and growth strategy.”

Anyone think of a suitable candidate?

Thats the biggest pile of shite i've read in a while. Leeds road is an absolute turdhole, just like the rest of inner city Bradford. Ross Shaw is complete halfwit, i wouldn't trust him to push trolleys at Morrisons.

There is real skill in manoeuvring a line of trollies, ARS wouldn't have a clue.

I recall the council saying the exact same thing years ago regarding killinghall road being the gateway to the city, so as a reward millions was spent sprucing up all the privately owned terraced houses between Mr Value at laisterdyke all the way to Undercliffe, sand blasting of houses, new walls, wrought iron gates and railings, new front doors etc - all courtesy of the good old taxpayer. The amount of litter and general shite blowing around or dumped in the following months (and ever since) is living proof that it is pointless putting lipstick on a pig

Bradford Council in a nutshell. Forever spaffing our money on stupid shite!

The council said the same with regards Barkerend Road/Leeds Old Road and had new railings put round front gardens I believe some also got their frontage shot blasted, what's the saying you can take the lad out of (fill in where appropriate) but you can't take the above out of the lad.
You could take many areas of Bradford and drop them into any city in Pakistan and you wouldn't think they were areas from a western country, you reap what you sow.

Well if walking to Valley Parade on Saturday was sign of what city of culture is about you can keep it as far away from me as possible. I know it's my home city and I'll always be a Bradfordian but jeez that city centre is a dump, especially the mile or so around City Hall. Paving old roads is sticking lipstick on a pig

Me & my lad came down cornwall road from manningham lane, then along lupton street. What an absolute catalogue of shit - 2 full plates of uncovered food left on the path outside one house, 2 rats scurried across from behind some sort of butchers shop (the place made me want to vomit there & then), the mosque at the end of lupton street started calling out on the loud speaker, the "kids" park contained 3 adults, litter blowing everywhere, 3 bedsheets draped over the railings of the park (assuming they'd been washed and left there to dry?) and then to top it off some tw@t in a dilapidated transit came from behind us and drove UP holywell ash lane - which everyone knows is a one way street - police stood around on midland road simply chatting about their Friday night out

The entire area is a horrid pig sty and no matter how much of our money the council throw at it, it will always be scummy because the residents are scummy and bring it down to that level. They are happy to live in squalor. Make no wonder away fans have such a negative image of Bradford after they have visited. Also it proves how utterly deluded Rupp & his defenders are if they think he can command any decent amount of money for the ground

Funny you should mention those areas they were all clean working class areas when I was a child growing up in them, yes they were poor areas but clean, mothers/wives donkey stoning their steps every Saturday morning and standing back to see how they compared with their neighbours, as I said they had little apart from pride in those days.

Seriously mate we had a hill similar to that both sides of Barkerend Road, Undercliffe Street and Harewood Street we had some great sledging down them but one hell of a drag walking back to the top wet through and pulling your sledge, happy days.
