Seems on the T&A version of this story, some have mentioned that exact issue.

Such comedy from the morons in charge of our City, at least some of them have openly mentioned the problems, whilst Alex Ross Shaw lives in his own dream world.

But it is also an area of the city that faces issues such as problem parking, begging and littering.

Councillor Riaz Ahmed (Lib Dem, Bradford Moor) said it is important these issues are tackled.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Executive for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “The Leeds Road corridor is one of the main gateways into the city and an important economic area where the vibrancy of Bradford’s South Asian population is showcased.

“The area boasts top class restaurants and cafes alongside specialist retailers catering to a UK market for jewellery, homewares, fabrics and the important Asian wedding market. “We have been working with local businesses in Leeds Road to promote it as a specific visitor destination locally, regionally and nationally.

“We're now seeking specific marketing expertise to support delivery of this work as part of the wider visitor economy and growth strategy.”

Also representing Bradford Moor, Cllr Ahmed said: “The Leeds Road corridor is home to many businesses that are leaders in their respective fields, and we should indeed take pride in that. However, it is also clear that the area faces a number of longstanding issues that require urgent attention.

“These challenges are well-known to the authorities, yet there seems to be a reluctance from those in leadership to address them effectively. Unfortunately, this inaction comes at the detriment of local residents and has wider implications for the district as a whole.

“The most pressing issues affecting this area include excessive speeding, a disregard for the Highway Code, parking on pavements, and widespread begging at major traffic light junctions.

So you have two councillors telling it how it us, and then you have Alex Ross Shaw basically saying money will be thrown at someone to try show it in a good light and not mentioning anything about what everyone in Bradford knows to be a lawless area of the district.

I would put Cllr Ahmed in Ross-Shaws position as of today and rid the council of the useless buffoon, at least Mr Ahmed seems to have a modicum of common sense. Had to laugh at Ross-Shaws description of Leeds Road, as far removed from reality as you could get. Absolute arse of an area of the city.

Parking shouldn't be a problem on Leeds Road for visitors. Just stop in the middle of the road and bang the hazard warning lights on. Seems to work for most up there now.

Nightly firework displays, real life bumper cars, fresh mango from the back of a van, what more could anyone want?

Not even mentioned Salahs chicken, or someone tapping on your window for change at every traffic light. Who wouldn't want to visit?

Have you seen those apartments at the bottom, the Gatehaus I think they are called. They sold flats back when it opened for about £140k and now you can't give them away. I think rightmove shows some dire losses. I also believe the police raided the place to find a cannabis farm in a number of the apartments not long since.

I hate those beggars who hang round that junction at the bottom. Sometimes I actually park my car at the broadway for the City games, so have to go that way and you have fireworks outside Jinnah for some wedding going off in one direction whilst you have people begging tapping on your car window from the other.

The top apartments in the Gatehaus have a fantastic view of Bradford's very own "Santa Pod Raceway" known to many as Leeds Road where frequently had a beer or two in the pubs on both sides of Leeds Road, back in the day most major Roads leading to the City centre had a dozen or so watering houses.

Strange that Audi is closing in Bradford, usually the boy racers smash them up racing on Canal Road and then they can be wheeled in for repairs.

It's an absolute sh*t hole is Bradford. So sad to see what's happened to the city, and it's only going to get worse.
