    Mod Note: Split off from 'Gibson' thread.

    You could probably play for Bristol City or Birmingham City, 'BCFC' clubs. Bradford on the other hand, probably not, who are BCAFC.

    Never once in 35 years watching City have I referred to them as BCAFC. It seems to be only modern day social media fanatics who’ve invented this ‘A’, presumably as with Bristol City or Brum had taken the BCFC.

    The ‘A’ wasn’t invented by social media types to avoid repetition with Bristol City or Brum, it is because that is our actual name! We are an association football club.

    AFC Bournemouth, AFC Wimbledon, Sunderland AFC, AFC Fylde, Hull AFC andRochdale AFC are others!

    The sport is called association football, every team is an association football club whether it's an A.F.C. in the official name or F.C.. We are Bradford City A.F.C., though who designed the website didn't care.

    AFC Wimbledon, meanwhile, has zero meaning. It's not A.F.C. Wimbledon, it's AFC Wimbledon and the meaning was never designated.

    The point is we are Bradford City AFC, not Bradford City FC.

    If you want to be accurate, it's Bradford City A.F.C. not Bradford City AFC.

    I really don’t care about pedantic stuff like that at 20 past midnight, Jon! Just catching up on City events after the game, having not been on this weekend. and wanted to pull up the poster incorrectly saying the A in our name was fabricated for social media, when its not.

    For us, both BCFC and BCAFC are correct in their own way and have both been used over the years. At any point in our history its been more a case of which one the Club preferred to use; here's what was being used in 1921:

    It’s AFC because my mates used to crack the hilarious ‘Are Fookin Crap’ gag constantly. What’s on our club crest on our shirts?

    Oh and the song, you can easily fit the A in if you speed up a bit and are not lazy :thumbup:

    Yes, both names are valid: the club was first registered as Bradford City Football Club, becoming after a few years Bradford City Association Football Club (1908) Ltd., then Bradford City Association Football Club (1983) Ltd., and now we're back to Bradford City Football Club Ltd. One can understand bits being dropped because the full name would be a bit awkward/wordy on programmes etc.

    Our Boar's head and Bantam crests do have AFC on them.

    I suppose that I am so used to BCAFC that BCFC does seem strange, and doesn't in the first instance suggest our club to me.
