No mention on here of the ref. Thought he had a good game with fair decisions. His warning to Pointon that he was cutting it a bit fine was better than just waiting for him to get another yellow (then red). Could do with more like him (the ref) in this division. We've seen some real shockers over the years.

 

I had wondered if we'd prioritised Oyegoke as we had the chance to encourage him to stay next season whereas Tomkinson wouldn't be coming back and we knew that. Then overlaying our league position and knowing we were unlikely to get into the playoffs we decided to play Oyegoke and give him/us the chance to see if it could work. If we were closer to the top, I think he'd have continued playing Tomkinson who is clearly a more accomplished defender.

 

I think Oyegoke plays as we may sign him whereas we don’t have a chance with Tomlinson

Not sure if you mean Paul or Graham but yep, no chance on either, both been retired for years.

 

The ref was Ross Joyce, who also ref'd the first leg of the play off semi final v Carlisle last year, when he had an equally good game.

 

Thought the name was familiar but I had negative vibes before last night but thought fouls given against us were mostly warranted so no complaints, will watch out for him in the future ...

 

He was pretty sensible in his decision making. A poor ref would have booked Kelly for the “ coming together” that led to the freekick/ goal to Barrow. I agree he applied common sense tbh.

 

I was a bit surprised by some of the bookings he didn't give, but largely because most refs give them - in reality he probably got most of those right too.

After watching the replay of that incident Kev, it looked like both players were going for the ball and Kelly got there first and cleared the ball.
Then both players collided.
For me there was no intent from Kelly, therefore no booking.
At least that's how I saw it!
