Talking of referees whilst getting a haircut in Edinburgh this morning the barber asked me about City's performance v Doncaster. I wasn't at the match but listened to the commentary. He knew Madden had refereed the game so I told him about the sending off and the contentious yellow.
I said I was surprised that he had left the officiating of high profile matches in Scotland to appear in lower leagues in England. The barber's reply was that SPL are introducing VAR !!!

their confidence will be boosted after making a winning start for Wild. Think this is a trappy fixture and a point wouldn’t be the worst result while our new team continues to develop.

We do need more pace in the team and an attack minded midfield. I’m not expecting to see it but we really should be going 4-4-2 and getting Chapman out wide. Walker alongside Smallwood in the middle. And some pace up top alongside Oliver to run at Canavan.

4-2-3-1, slow, patient build up and more high balls and crosses into Oliver would be lunacy here - Canavan is fine dealing with aerial attacks. Get runners in on them.

What's happened to the high intensity football we played under Hughes toward the end of last season.

I know its very early doors, but already a bit of concern about the chronic lack of creativity shown so far in the first couple of games.

As a 45 minutes it's the same problems as last week. Angol doesn't really have a role in this set up which puts pressure on the others. At the moment the jigsaw pieces don't fit
