    Going to post this thread in the City Talk board, if it needs to be move then a mod can move it.

    Why does no one use the shoutbox?

    YOU ALL LOVE TO SHOUT STUFF. Why do none of you except myself use the shoutbox damn it!

    SHOUT about Bradford city in the shoutbox! I don't get it. Like I've grew up with forums, I run a couple of forums myself and I cannot understand why no one uses the shoutbox ahahaha.

    I am setting myself up for a bullet in the face I know that. But hey.... it's a question I want to ask of you so I'm willing to take one for the team.

    I see more than enough posts in the threads, but I cannot understand why people don't use the shoutbox to converse and literally put wee statements in the shoutbox ahahaha.

    Shoutboxes are there to converse and literally get something quick off your chest.

    USE THE SHOUTBOX!

    It's not just for updates on new threads

    I thought when it started it was meant as a match day chatroom. But it never really got going. It was a sight easier than using the standard game threads and constantly refreshing for new posts.

    Never even noticed shoutbox on here. No idea what one is. What's the difference to posting in normal threads and a shout box?

    As far as im aware it does , I cannot see a way to view older posts
    A few years ago it was very active during matches , Maybe it will get rekindled if we improve on the pitch also

    Here’s an idea to kick it off again,

    How about for 1 match only, perhaps Saturday while we’re in mid table obscurity, from say 2pm until 5.30pm on a matchday, the normal matchday thread in City Talk is locked (or SimonW is allowed to post match updates) and all matchday live talk is done in the shout box to get people used to it and familiar with it? Perhaps just as a trial run.

    What is wrong with just leaving it be? That way you can look back at it later rather than have it disappear

    I just liked that it was instantly updated without the need to keep pressing the refresh button ( at least that’s what my rickety memory tells me).

    Just a hunch that it would make our BantamTalk match experience that little bit better. It might not, but you don't know until you try.

    We have 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to discuss any other topic on any thread, but it could be a unique concept to have a "live chat" style matchday conversation.

    Like I say it's just an idea, don't know if @king karl@king karl or any of the mods have any thoughts on it.

    Shoutbox is still there and available to anybody who wants to use it. As @PlatinumChaosX@PlatinumChaosX says, it isn't used much currently. In the past it has been used on matchdays to record immediate comments, observations, rants at the ref .. and the players! But its use has reduced to 1 regular poster and that's Platinum himself. From memory there were rarely more than about a dozen posters using Shoutbox for any particular game and these days most post their comments on the game in progress on the matchday thread. My own personal view is that most posters are simply voting with their feet and choosing to use normal threads, particularly the matchday thread to air their views.

    If more posters believe there is some extra value in using the Shoutbox rather than the matchday thread itself, I'm sure they would.
