Well in the season which keeps giving us two fixtures a week, it is onto the Banks’s Stadium (former Beescot) on Saturday. Having played them 51 times, then over the history of the contest, we have won 16 and lost 14.
I vividly remember the 3-3 draw at their place in August 2017. We had been 3 up and cruising. Then we conceded a goal and there was a flurry of substitutions. The team included some fairly uninspiring players, Barr, Field and Pybus come to mind.

At present Walsall’s form at home is very mixed W5-D5-L5.

Their current home form over the last 4 & 8 games is fairly poor. In particular their last four is without a win. They are one of the teams with the greatest amounts of draws in the division.

Tonight they play Newport at home, which will give an indication as to wether or not they can get an upturn. Newport themselves are struggling so I would anticipate a dour struggle.

The famed comment ‘we were tired’ after playing midweek, cannot really be used, as City will have had a further 24 hours to recover.

You would think that City would have enough to get a result down there, if not win the match.

Think you have answered your own question.

We need to change our mindset into believers.

W5-D5-L5 is there form at home you say then why wouldn't be we have enough to WIN down there?

Definite win for City, onwards and upwards for us. It’s all open above us this year. 1-3 that is if they can unlock our defence?

It’s to our advantage that we get an extra 24 hours, I wouldn’t be happy if it were the other way round. Is there a reason for them playing tonight?

    Hopefully a win 2-0

I think Cookie Monster will get a few nibbles against his former club and be bang up for it.
    2-0 to us.

Think we'll see Crankshaw and Cook start this one (particularly Cook if he is unavailable to play against Mansfield next Tues).
I wouldn't change anything else, however we will probably need to rotate Sutton / Watt at some point although not sure who for.

Anyone know latest on when Clarke / Novak / Staunton / Hossannah are back? is Pritchard injured again?

They will hate our pace, it's a typically statuesque Lg 2 defence. My God, I don't believe I'm now writing this. Our pace! What a January window that was and how well T and S have transformed Cooke by playing him so much further up.

We shouldn't underestimate the opposition. We were once a team that opposition fans thought were an easy 3 points.

One game at a time eh? Slowly slowly catchy monkey

Clarke and Staunton are both fit I think and I don’t think Hosannah is far away either I don’t think Novak will be back for a bit

The less talk of play offs the better once we are in proper reach the pressure will be on. Keep it as low key as possible will give us a better chance of making up the ground

Absolutely. One game at a time, that's all we should be focusing on.

I think we are in proper reach now, so I hope that doesn't see a nerviness to our performance.

    Remember this

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47262166

didn’t realise it was Cook sent off for elbowing NKP. Didn’t he bully him against Morecambe the other night too.
Looking at that team, we should never have gone down

That's just bringing back nightmares, a poignant and grim reminder of who we were, I was feeling happy until seeing that, please do not do it again.

So Walsall beaten by Newport a single goal separating the teams. The game seems to have had 10 minutes of time added on.

Walsall lose 1-0 to Newport. Rigid 4-3-3. Zonal marking from set pieces. Done down the left from a corner, where no Walsall player came out, to defend the ball. Newport mixed the corners up with little reaction from 'static' Wall defenders.
Absolutely nothing in the last third with Lavery constantly isolated.

Listening to the local commentators and not impressed with formation, set up under Dutton and were questioning more than praising.

Forest Green losing 3-0 to Southend at home as I type.

Thought I'd check to see how Walsall are getting on against Newport and the game's already finished!
    They lost by the way.
