You’re being generous to Crankshaw putting him alongside the aforementioned players. Tell me a time you watched him and genuinely believed he was a game changer? For me I don’t remember any such occasion so think it was good business to get a fee for him - but good for him how he’s started at Stockport.

The other three are a different scenario. Vaughan didn’t want to be here in the first place; Doyle was completely mismanaged and Wyke moved onwards upwards and was always going to after we failed to get promoted.

Common thread between them all is that they played for the club during a period of mismanagement from the top which we are still experiencing - that I agree with you.

The problem , in my mind at least, is easy to identify, no one gives a shit.

The manager is so passive during the game and in his interviews it's unbelievable. We as fans are tearing our hair out during games whereas he is stood, arms folded on the side.

The CEO who got fans to part with extra cash based on false promises has now vanished. He has spoke many times about "after he has gone" , he ain't he for the long run, he is here for himself no one else.

The owner , has he ever bothered, I can excuse him missing a certain period when travel was restricted, but if he cared he'd be here wanting answers. Instead he is taking the small profit the club takes annually, whilst it falls apart beneath him.

How many players give a toss? I'd argue one maybe two, the rest aren't overly bothered or at least don't show it. They put nothing in during games, after the games they just trudge off. There is no hurt, there is no pride, it's just a wage to them. Gone are the days of players who used to run through walls for us.

No one on the playing staff, coaching staff or board level has any affinity for this club what so ever. Us fans are the only ones who give a damn, it's merely a job to the rest of them. how do we change it, I'm not sure, but for one I'm absolutely sick of it. If this was April I'd be genuinely contemplating not getting another season ticket. There is nothing there to get behind anymore, the passion has gone, the enjoyment certainly has, just years of being beaten down and I've had my fill unfortunately.

I'm not sure how it changes, it's not a quick fix for sure. I'm not sure it changes at all with the current incumbents from top to bottom. It's a mess, sparks spoke the other day about an oil tanker slowly turning. I'm sorry mate this ain't a tanker it's an abandoned ship.

 

Why is our most creative player - Callum Cooke - warming the bench, when Watt and Gilliead - who between them produce the square root of feck all - keep getting games? It's bizarre.

 

I know a player who for certain gives a toss. Unfortunately he wasn't able to influence last night's proceedings due to warming the bench with his arse all night.

As Bronco has pointed out on another thread, there doesn't appear to be much camaraderie between management and players as witnessed during substitutions, I think some same old problems have crept back in to the club...

 

Are you saying that Adams has 'lost the dressing room' already? If so, we are in a lot of trouble.

 

Adams alluded to this a few weeks ago, that we might have to make ourselves less open in certain games in order to achieve our goal and that flair players may have to be sacrificed.

Rightly or wrongly it looks like Cooke has been that fall guy for now, was vernam originally. Adams will have to live by that, however that approach doesn't seem to be working.

For me, that midfield is a disaster, neither watt, Sutton or Cooke have the discipline or defensive attributes for it to be a success.

Having said all that, I do agree with your point that Cooke should be having the team built around him

 

I empathise with a lot of what you're saying. It is getting harder to stay positive. The way to turn this ship around is to bring quality into the building and get some momentum on the pitch. Winning breeds confidence for the players, but I don't think they believe they can win. Unless we score very late in the game to go ahead, or score 2 without reply I don't think they have the mentality to hold on. Some of the breakaway goals we concede are criminal and remind me of the early days of McCall. For this I blame Adams. We have no pace at the back yet we're often left with one player holding the fort. Up front I'm not sure where the goals are going to come from. Robinson certainly won't provide them. He's poor as a lone striker and seems incapable of looking across the line. Angol may as well pack in, which is a shame because he's way above anything we've had in a while, but can't be relied upon. Lavery has had one good game and is now prone to injury.

We seem to be entering another January transfer window needing 4 or 5 first team players and needing to shift a similar amount in the process. The only way to avoid this is to stick with the manager and allow him to build his team. Changing again will only bring the same results we've seen over the last 4 seasons. I've not given up hope yet, but I'm preparing myself for another season of disappointment.

It seems to me that our best central midfield is Songo'o (defensive sitter) - Sutton (box to box) and Cooke (chance creator). In games when Adams wants to play three CBs he could put Foulds in the back three rather than Songo'o.
Watt and Gilliead, on current form, should be nowhere near a starting place.

 

Usually I’m quick to comment after a game win or lose but that second half was truly depressing and sapped the little enthusiasm I had left for the season, year on year we hope for better but it doesn’t arrive. We are truly broken and have been for a long time, unfortunately until a new owner with a vision comes along I don’t see an upturn.

 

I am ok with us being poor but the model in the past was a championship club and this season promotion. It’s been a sticky 5 years. I don’t think we will achieve anything this season. It’s the hope sparky boy that has done me.
