A points system would work but I also think that perhaps what could be seen as a minor game should carry more value.

Standard away game within 50 miles is one point

Over 50 miles is two points

Bonus point for an evening game

There will never be a system that suits everyone, some can't do evenings, some find trains / supporters club travel too expensive etc but a line has to be drawn somewhere if we are doing this.

I do personally think that someone who forks out for stevenage away on a Tuesday night deserves a little more than those who rock up at Oldham on a Saturday for a day out and a bit of aggro

I’m sorry mate but we had many genuine loyal fans who missed out on Chelsea because the ‘casual’ ‘day trippers’ were out in force.
It’s imperative that whatever priority system is adopted, that it protects the fans who most regularly attend away games and without them having to queue up for 5 hours in the snow.

But the priority wouldn’t help if we only get 800 tickets. You’re still going to have to be first 800 for example

And to add to my point, you’ve just agreed with me. People will buy one on the off chance we get a big cup tie away.

As I said maybe points system can help give first pick on priority cards for those who deserved one the most. Not just those who want on as they are only 25 quid

It would have to be a team very low down the amateur leagues who would only give us 800 tickets.

Just out of interest, what's the away allocation at Morecambe? It's one of the 2 games I could see when I come over in October.

Edit. Found it, about 1400, might be problematic.

Some teams advertise tickets on a points basis.
    So for example

    +100 points get first dibs
    +80 second dibs
    +60 third dibs
Then when all point accumulations have been done it goes on general sale

Think the discussion is more around earning the points

Ye, just heard some people questioning how the tickets will then be distributed to fans

Best system is the one we have, Money is the best arbiter of ticket allocation and raises income, If they sell out to easy then put the price up to regulate demand

FA Cup rule is minimum 15% of capacity, about a 5300 capacity, so Fleetwood and Accrington spring to mind as clubs who could only hand over 800 or so tickets if they wanted to for a cup tie. Presumably Salford too. Two of those are higher in the pyramid than City and the third might well be in twelve months.

Actually in the League it’s minimum 2000 tickets or 10% of the capacity of the stadium holds fewer than 20,000. So City have to offer at least 2,000 away tickets unless they get permission from the league for less. Accrington with a 5,450 stadium need to offer a minimum of 545 to City fans in the league or about 815 for the Cup. Up to them if they want to offer more if the away end holds enough.

In theory clubs in the league only have to give us 10% of the capacity if they really wanted to as they have capacities under 20k which is the problem with deciding where to cut off priority tickets so with a capacity of 5,100 Salford could offer us 510 if they wanted to with points system we can now choose whether we have set bands for when tickets go on sale i.e. 1st sales is 500+ or we can change it from game to game so the top 510 so the top people all have a chance to get a ticket then move it down in small chunks.

Apologies if this has already been stated earlier in the thread.

I was told by the ticket office today that they have limited the Priority Away tickets to 1000 this year and they are now sold out.

That fits in with earlier comments; would be nice if their was some official confirmation. If that is correct that means their should be enough tickets for every Priority member, at least as far as the regular league matches are concerned.

Maybe an Away season ticket scheme?
