There is a difference between giving a shit and waving your arms and blaming anyone but yourself when you have let in yet another goal.

 

I get that you and some others may have some sort of grudge against ROD despite him being picked by what is it 5 different managers now as first choice? But even sure you can’t say he doesn’t give it his all and isn’t a clubman, in terms of ability he’s not the best but he’s never not tried his best and is always going out of his way to take pictures with young fans and talk to them. Are you trying to deflect it onto ROD in defence of AOC?

 

Don't like him, never did and never got the feeling he had any heart in the club.

 

Nothing to do with your argument but AOC has also been first choice under every manager in the time he was here. Not bad for a grumpy, selfish, relegation baiting Jonah

 

That just emphasises the lack of quality and competition we had rather than anything AOC brought to the table. Once Caravan arrived he was only in the team due to injuries to FCD.

BRE & AOC are up there with the worst CH pairing we have ever had.

 

Big difference being there wasn’t a supposedly better competitor waiting on the bench like there is with ROD, which is the point I’m making, of RODs only competition was someone now at the bottom of non league and or am 18 year old then I’d see the point. No doubt AOC was better than some of the garbage we’ve had in defence in recent years, as back ups go he’d still improve strength in depth ability wise even now. But as a character he can do one for me.

 

Last sentence sums him up for me. When the going gets tough AOC just disappears totally and starts blaming those around him, no balls, no drive, no character. Typical former "permanent mid table" Scottish footballer where they only have four difficult matches, and their mindset is they have lost those before a ball is kicked. Absolutely not a player you want in the trenches when a battle starts. Looks reasonable in a winning team, looks poor in a losing team.

The absolute polar opposite of Niall Canavan, POC (lower quality but has fight) and Gary Jones.

 

Agreed and that was faithfuls main point a few days ago, when the likes of AOC, Wright and Akpan were brought in it was to try improve us. Instead imo it removed the fight and character of the team, it’s not all on them 3, but the 3 high earners highlight all that’s been wrong with this club for the last 3-4 years.

I remember the game when John Egan broke his leg against Plymouth. Appalling game after the injury, cold Tuesday night and Gary Jones took the game by the scruff of the neck and carried us to victory scoring the only goal. To a lesser extent at the weekend Canavan, marshalling the second half and putting his body on the line and was arguably our MOM definitely second half when we were under the cosh. Them players are far more effective at this level than someone with some ability who’s hearts not in it.

 

So read your post again and ask yourself this;

If he was our most consistent player and never let us down, why are so many happy he's gone?

The fans don't offer him a new contract, the club does. Are you suggesting Stefan Rupp or Derek Adams are still annoyed at him for ripping off the armband to such an extent that they decided that although he's our most consistent player we don't want him around the club any more?

It's a bit of a stretch don't you think?

 

But that wasn't the case was it. AOC was moved to right back to strengthen that position because FCD was struggling. That said I can't disagree that maybe his character leaves room for improvement....but he is not as bad a footballer as some make out

Adams obviously doesn't rate him. Although under contract he has been made available for transfer.

Watching City just hasn't been the same without El Capitan.

 

Is this the same Adams that was chasing Delfouneso all January,perhaps not as good a judge as he likes to believe.

Good signing for them. His time here was done but regardless of the moaners on here he's a good lower league defender. Puts his body on the line but can play a bit too. Also good for a goal or two. In fact the type of CB we could do with this season .
Also a top quality scapegoat

 

If he moved up here during his spell at Valley Parade and still lives local its a great move for him as you say.
