Looks like this is to stop all the players getting injured. Wonder what the strategy will be.

He will have his work cut out. Good luck to him, but I would have preferred Jamie Lawrence. Thankfully this will put an end to him being co-commentator on Radio Leeds.

I love his enthusiasm on Radio Leeds and he’s improves out of sight but both Bower and Clarke were very good.

Interesting appointment, especially as he's going to be part of the dug out staff.

Who's taking over his radio work? :)

Let's hope his communication skills improve or I struggle to see how the players can benefit from this - as enthusiastic and passionate as he is he can barely string a proper sentence together on commentary.

Communication is a key element in any managerial or coaching role, the student needs to fully understand their instruction and what they are being taught/shown.

When you get past some of the stuff he says when he gets caught up in the game, he makes some very good observations about the players. I've heard him question preparations, warm up routines etc - he clearly knows what he is talking about and I suspect this has been acknowledged.

Whatever happened to the shake up of the performance and conditioning team which Sparks announced in the summer and was supposed to increase the squad's onfield performances?

Irrespective of Andy's insight and obvious love for the club, the question should be whether he is the right person for the job? Does he for example, have the appropriate qualifications and experience to do it? More specifically, is he somebody who will improve the squad's performance by both reducing the incidence of non-contact injuries and getting them play for a full 90 mins without running out of steam?

I hope so but I have no idea whether he has any relevant experience in this kind of role.

Kiwomya previously served as performance coach of Huddersfield Town, helping the Terriers embark on a 43-game unbeaten run, and has also filled similar conditioning roles at the likes of Manchester City, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.

He held the same role at Huddersfield under Lee Clark I believe, and has worked at Man City on the conditioning side so it seems he's had relevant experience elsewhere.

    he does;

The Huddersfield-born former Bantams winger has rejoined the club as its new performance coach, taking up a similar tole to the one he has done for the likes of the Terriers, Manchester City, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.

Kiwomya developed his knowledge on the fitness side of the game, and was part of Huddersfield's record-breaking 43-game unbeaten run under Lee Clark in 2011-12

Andy has excellent experience, not only as a performance coach but also as a player, and this knowledge will hopefully add lots to our armoury for the remainder of the season and beyond," said manager Derek Adams.

in all honestly I had no idea he did until I looked him up, just thought he played for us then went into punditry/commentary!

It's something and nothing, but I always did think he made some good points about preparation on commentary, certainly better than any of his in match analysis!

edit - as @Hulmebantam@Hulmebantam as previously pointed out!

Not heard him mention it much this season but he certainly mentioned things regularly when McCall was manager.
Little things like opposition teams doing that little shuttle run thing on the touch line immediately before the start of the second half while city players just stood in position waiting for the 2nd half to start.
No way of knowing if it makes a difference but with our recent piss poor second half performances it might make us a bit more ready to get at the opposition straight from the off.
