Amazon say it is the future for live football, Instead of the broadcaster picking the games you can watch they will stream them all and you pick the game you want to watch

Watching Man Utd v Spurs. Notice they have ITV commentator Clive Tydesley with Glen Hoddle. Much better than Martin Mumbling Tyler.

Good coverage. One small thing I dont like though is the layout of the scoreline graphic in top left corner, just a minor niggle though.

Be interesting to see if Amazon can provide good competition for Sky in the future

They have paid about £90m for 20 games for 3 years, so £1.5m per game

Bargain. With the amount of people signing up to Prime and all the advertising revenue they'll make a very nice profit.

Cracking Merseyside Derby so far. I notice Prime also have the Leicester v Liverpool game over Christmas too.

I think their coverage is excellent, very impressed. Love the fact you can pick and chose which game you want and that they've staggered the games a bit too.

They have all 10 games this mid week and the 10 on 26/27 Dec.

not sure the away fans at the later kick offs will be too impressed or this with kids

It's not though. It works for midweek games especially if there are are no games for the other English leagues but on say a Saturday it would send many many more clubs to the administrators. I suspect you guys may be fine, I don't know for certain (You all might know better) but I feel you rely less on the casual fans to get people into the stadium than the majority of clubs but for most clubs in League 1 and below (maybe even some of those in the Championship) its those people who turn up where the clubs only their 'second club' who attend because its local and they want to watch some live football that make a real difference. Being able to watch the club you support but can't goto the match live or just being able to watch a match with a big appeal is going to have an impact on these 'casual fans'.

I can also see it killing the collective TV deal pretty quickly. At the moment you may be able to look at viewing figures and say 'Well the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool are clearly more attaractive games than Burnley' but you don't have a direct comparision to be able to say for certain. If we had this for every PL round they would have figures that could be fully compared and those where viewing figures show they have more appeal would be justified in saying they deserve more

Don’t think it would take much money being paid to the lower leagues for them to agree to live 3pm Saturday games

We aren't just talking about two leagues though. You are potentially impacting every team in all 12 tiers. Would a broadcaster pay enough for all matches to give all PL teams more money while also giving every other club in the English pyramid enought to offset any income losses?

I think this is a test by Amazon, They will see how many of the 100 million Prime members watch and based on that will challenge Sky and BT when it comes up for renewal, Netflix have also said they are interested as well in bidding for PL games, The future is streaming even BCFC are now streaming games, The attraction of Amazon Prime is they allow you to watch up to 3 games at once on TV, Tablet and Phone so the family can watch different games

First impression of their coverage is that its very good. Watching the games on my tablet i can just the tablet and it shows the stats. I can see Amazon becoming a big player in premiership coverage.

Don't know where you get that Netflix have expressed an interest. Netflix have repeatedly said they won’t be bidding for any live events. And even if they did it would be another ITV digital situation for English football as a Netflix days are numbered (They have a negative cash of $4bn a year and have been posting negative cash flow figures like that for about 7 years. They rely on selling junk bonds to stay in business but the first of these matured in about 2 years and then every 6 months after that and they don’t have billions in the bank to pay them off. They will have to issue more bonds ONTOP of the one to cover that years negative cash flow and the more they do that the worse rates they get and the harder they are to sell). They needed to have been able to be charging like £50 a month by this point but they created a market where all the others had to come in at the under £10 price point which has limited their ability to increase their prices and many of these other services have a parent company who can shoulder them making losses for much longer so they are just winging Netflix out.

The thing is with Prime is like Netflix it losses money. They use it as a perk to get you to take up the free next day shipping so you order more items and it’s those extra product sales that subsidies the service but there is point where the cost to acquire rights before the extra sales aren’t enough to cover the subsidy. So I can see them trying to buy more of these midweek all match packages but buying Saturday 3PM kick offs at the amount they can give every club in the land enough to be ok with it I don't see
