Just spotted this on youtube. It seems to have only gone up today. It is freakin' awesome. All along I was trying to predict the final order.

And can you guess how many goals there were in total. I was waaaay out :)

91 goals in 20 years? Not a bad return.

Look at the rate compared to Windass, Thorne and Wells. Hanson's bar was at a snails pace compared to theirs.

Mental how people constantly try to poke negativity towards James Hanson. How can anyone from Bradford - who's a Bradford fan - belittle him and his story. Genuinely the stuff of dreams. This isn't just about your post... I just feel like I constantly see him getting negative press.

Was nice to see people on twitter calling for him to be our player of the decade.

Underachieved. He spent every minute on the pitch even when unfit, the amount of games he played he should’ve been easily over hundred goals. Strikers are judged on goals and his ratio wasn’t good enough. Not saying he wasn’t a good servant but he was massively limited as a player which showed in that video the rate his goal tally increased.

The best thing of all about the Hanson bashing is that, despite being called a crock and a pub player, when he finally left City he moved to the best team in the division and won promotion to the Championship. That told you EVERYTHING. His critics don't understand football.

And shortly after went almost a full seasons worth of games without scoring a goal.

Perhaps his "critics" knew more than you thought?

No - they haven't got a clue mate. You can near enough make negative points about any player on the planet. Especially at the level, we play at. If you can't see what he brings to a side - not simply goal-related - you haven't a clue.

Like the last 20 years of my life condensed into 3 minutes. I could have done so much more with my life.

He's a striker, even with other attributes he still has to make a contribution in the goal scoring stakes.

You're trying to persuade me that 40 odd games without a goal is acceptable for a centre forward and you're telling me that I haven't got a clue? :joy::joy::joy:

That's park territory, right there CB!

Not really. If his critics knew what they were on about he would have moved down the leagues upon leaving City.

The fact the best team in the league wanted him for a target man role tells you everything about his ability.

Injuries have hampered his career and of course he was never going to cut it in Championship, but as far as League One target men go, a fully fit (peak) Hanson was up there with the best of them.

Graham Tomlinson went to Man United from City, Des Hamilton went to Newcastle. Plenty of players move up divisions with transfers, it doesn't automatically make them good enough.

You can't deny what he did at City and how Parky used him to help gain success. He's an integral part of the team that gained promotion and got to a cup final. Would I have in my team though? Probably not.

I liked Hanson and his partnership with Wells was excellent in league two.

My original reply was just to counter the ridiculous notion that somehow he shouldn't be criticised because Sheffield United bought him and that alone apparently elevates him beyond question. It's bizarre.
