Mark Robbins - pie in the sky, as he had just got Coventry promoted twice
Liam Rosenior - no or little first team experience and doing well at Derby ? Have you seen where they finished and where they would be without the points deduction

Two absolutely impossible choices and one that would have been another disaster.

 

And as I keep saying neither really wanted to be here irrespective of the position they were played in. Both journeymen with absolutely no affinity to any club they have ever played for, (only exception is Vaughan at Tranmere but only because he lived close) both mercenaries. No thanks.

 

I know what you are saying but to be honest they need calling out, we shouldn't settle for their feeble efforts.
I prefer to look at it that they have a month to show they are worth being part of our club.
As I said the other day this doesn't excuse Adams efforts so far as we've heard more about him being a winner than seeing it at our club - but I have no problem him calling out under performers, unless we toughen up the culture at City will never change

 

Sparks and Rupp have a problem then.

 

I've no complaint with him calling out the group as a whole. It's not as if he's named names and pointed at specific players. The whole group are failing (again) and if he doesn't call them out we will just sleepwalk into another relegation fight. Good on him I say. Time for certain players to man up, and those that don't or can't to ship out.

Our squad won’t exactly be ‘cheap’. More than Morecambe were spending, we’ve had a reasonable L2 budget for years just we’ve spunked it on an underperforming or lopsided squad eg Doyle - prolific, just not here.

 

Your right for the time Rahic was here and the ensuing large contracts but now that's gone. This year's budget is pretty low now the big earners have gone. Not lower half of table low but more consistent with sustainability.

He didnt call out the squad as a whole as being in the same bracket and thats the diff, for example he didnt say ‘this squad doesnt win enough games’, or ‘this teams results arent good enough’.

it was ‘this team doesn't have enough winners’, suggesting some are ‘winners’ and some arent and leaving them all wondering which bracket they fall into, i think its crap management and Could create a divide rathe than provoke a reaction. Watt might believe he is a winner now and can kick back and relax!! A collective kick up the backside is definitely overdue and they can shove XG where the sun doesn't shine.

I'm sure Morecambe were sorry to see him go given the remarkable job he did there giving them their best season in history

 

Here's my take on the present situation and despite my recent optimism, which hasn't completely disappeared despite Tuesday, I've been saying for a long time. Previous managements, especially Stuart, recruited a series of players that were essentially not up to it. They might well be ok in a team of grafters and leaders, but collectively they're hopeless. This approach to recruitment continued in the summer with more such players brought in. How much input Adams had I don't know. I'm pretty sure, however, that he now fully appreciates what he's dealing with and that he knows that he has a group of players who are going nowhere. In time he will get rid of them and bring in players he believes in, and he must be given that time. We're all unhappy with what we see on the pitch but to expect any manager to transform such a gutless bunch in one season is asking too much. I'm happy to write off this season in the hope that having managerial stability for once will take us where we want to be.
