This is where the Hollywood boys need to hold their nerve, we know Parky can produce in Leagues One and Two but his record isn't great as he went higher, if they do get rid there are no guarantees that the next man will do better, its a massive learning curve for them Harvey needs to have a word he's only 5 games into a new season.

Why go to a team like that when he knows he’s in a good place here and might even take us to the Championship himself. There’s a lot to be said for being happy in your work - hopefully he won’t be going anywhere.

Agree the way Alexander comes across in interviews I think it will have to be something special for him to leave, he's very positive with regards his comments not only about the squad he's building but their togetherness, and having a good backroom team on and off the pitch, very positive with regards the support and how he envies the players running out to 20k + at Valley Parade wishing he was playing.

Yep and loyalty works both ways a run of bad results and he'll be fearing the sack.

Forget happy, when someone offers to triple your wages, even with a basket case club, you're taking it.

Not saying he would go, only that there could be clubs in the Championship who may be interested in someone with a win ratio of 50%+.

I'm sure someone can set me straight but I'm struggling to think of a single example where a player or manager has turned down a job which offers a significantly higher salary.

Marco Silva to one of the Saudi teams is a recent example of a manager (I think).

Multiple players must have knocked back Chinese/Saudi money over the last decade, Mbappe being one of them. If we're disregarding these, pretty sure that Chelsea offered £10m and a massive salary increase to Le Tissier in the 90s but he turned it down.

I suppose 'significantly higher' are the key words. GA himself said he chose to play for David Moyes at Preston for less money than another club had offered.
FWIW, I reckon we can keep Alexander from the most likely suitors (i.e. those in crisis) if he feels he's got the right backing and a club with potential to keep progressing. A Prem or Prem bound club might change that but I think we might be cementing a valuable relationship with him.

Darrly Clarke turned down the Leeds managers job to stay at Bristol Rovers.

And tbf the Saudi League would have Mbappe if he was money motivated (€1bn over 2 years was it?) Im sure Real Madrid are keeping him off uswitch though.

Didn't Messi turn down ridiculous amounts too. That's at the top end of the sport and most have more money than they could spend already. I think if Rupp can build that training complex without reducing the transfer budget, it'll set us up in good stead going forward. It wasn't missed on me when GA recently mentioned beating clubs who had invested more on and off the pitch, or something like that. Is that something he'd like us to do or something that could tempt him away in the future? Anyway, nothing to fear at the moment because we're still on the crest of a wave.

Thats the key....building complex will help our development and attraction of players but dipping into club budget wouldnt be helpful...if we were to reach the Championship we would need every last penny for recruitment!

Fernandez at Man U knew the pot of gold would see him in the football wilderness . There are plenty examples of players and managers.

There will be plenty of examples - loyalty isn't dead just yet. Salah signed his new Liverpool deal, I bet there were alot of clubs offering more.

I'm sure a few of our lot have turned down better financial offers to stay at City over the years. Andy Cook will have had suitors after his 30 goal season and been out of contract.
