They were massively unlucky to be 3 down at half-time, although credit for the way we kept going at them until the whistle went.

What would concern me, if I was a Huddersfield fan, was their second half. They kept going with playing from the back, which with our phenomenal press, was foolish. You could see their players getting visibly frustrated and not knowing how to counter. Understandably, we ran out of steam a bit around the 70th minute and they did get back in the game a bit.

It looks to me that they are still finding their way. I think they will be up there, and it is early days, but I'm not seeing a promotion shoe-in on yesterday's showing.

Yeah, with an average age of 29 and the high intensity training they do for the pressing game, it's not surprising some will run out of steam. Although, I don't know what Sarce has been having for breakfast this week because he ran his arse off.

That's a fair comment in terms of the frustration at the time. I used the 18 months more to reflect on where we have come from since the sacking of Mark Hughes and the first few months of GA's tenure, when the club seemed broadly clueless, but yes the turnaround from the Notts County game has been stunning

I have to completely disagree with your assessment that they were massively unlucky to be 3-0 down at half time. Yes they looked better than us in the first 15 minutes but after that, they looked second best all over the pitch and after we scored the second, they didn't look to have any fight left in them. We wanted it more, their heads went down and we took advantage of that. Nothing to do with them being unlucky whatsoever.

After reading reviews and viewing reports on youtube over the season so far, I get the impression the Town fans think they are a shoe-in for promotion. The delusion emanates from their forum even after 3 defeats. Quite frankly, IMO, they are the poorest side we've played at home this season. Their defence is brittle(even the Posh put 2 past them at the ACCU), their midfield is clueless, their attack is inconsistent. They have a big squad of individually supposed good players but they have a rookie manager who may be a good coach but lacks managerial nous. They think they'll walk the league whilst we have the better record and expect a mid-table finish.

Saw a couple of town fans i knew after the game, they were surprised how little they were up for the fight of a local derby. Second half they didn't want to know. I get the impression some teams underestimate us at home, Valley Parade is pretty much a fortress right now and the fans are like an extra man at times.

Big shout out to Power. I don’t think we’ve had a captain who wears his heart on his sleeve since Jones. Getting the crowd going at corners, in the players ears all the time and organising constantly. He may not have the engine of Smallwood, but I think he’s head and shoulders above when it comes to personality and leadership.

Baldwin had a cracking game yesterday. Superb pass to Josh for that outstanding team goal opener. Good awareness from Swan and good finish from Bobby.

I love the way Baldwin has bounced back after losing his head at Donny last season and quickly won back over the fans who over reacted and said should never play for us again.

One of the first names on the team sheet for me right now

Kolo Touray at LCB for me. Gives us pace and is a good defender. Pennington a shoe in....lets hope McIntyre can get up to speed quick as we thin on the ground even more so if Baldwin needs time away.

Any update on Byrne? He should be due back in a few weeks surely?

I think the big part of being able to turn that around was that he was allowed time by the club and there was never any rumour his job was under threat. A lot of that was probably down to the mitigation of going through the spell of barely having any fit CBs and credit from how he ended the previous season. At that time whilst it wasn't looking good we were still only 3 points off the play offs after that match so it was far from over, little did we know what would happen over the next 25 games.
A big turning point has been getting the home form to as near perfect as anyone could, getting that right will always help the mood around the club more than a strong away form as most people only see home games or at least very few away games.
Since that crazy week in March 2024 where we lost the 3 games badly to Forest Green, Mansfield and Notts County our home record is:
    P 30 W24 D4 L2 Pts76 GF56 GA19

I doubt there will be many teams in England who have a better record than that.
