Very poor first half, controlled the game better second half but we didn’t do enough in the final third. Donny deserved the win.

We need to move on and hopefully we’ll put in a better performance next week.

 

Last season, we were only just, by the skin of our teeth, good enough to go up. In one summer, we've improved to what looks like a mid table L1 side, with good character and a decent squad age to build for next season.

It's good, it's progress. We can't get back to being a genuinely good L1 side overnight.

Well that was a horror show from them all to be honest. Tyriek Wright briefly woke us up early doors in the second half but faded after his booking.

Defensively we were shocking. Joe Wright has had two nightmare games since coming back from injury.

I keep repeating myself, but think we will regret not bringing in another defensive midfielder, as bad as the defence were, no protection, which Smallwood gave us, at all

Massive improvement required all round if we are not to suffer heavy defeats in our next 2 league games.

 

Wouldn’t say I’m glad we’ve been beaten, but it was gonna happen sooner or later and I’d rather we lost today rather than next week, might give us a kick up the backside and prompt a reaction v Town

A good time to have a mid week break to allow players to recover and get a proper week's training in rather than pre match preparation or recovery that we will have been doing for the last few weeks. 2 very tough games coming up which will probably be 2 of our toughest of the season, for me I said before this period of 3 games if we only got 3 points I would be fine with that and still stick by that as I do think we will finish in the 9th - 12th bracket

 

The truth

 

Good thing today is a smack of realism for folk who simply thought this would continue and we wouldnt lose a game.

So easy to pullthem to bits tonight but i aint gonna said fromthe start that if we stay in this league it will be a job done and to lose our first game after how many is nor a bad start is it????

 

Not problem with today's result, when we equalised we looked capable of getting another unfortunatly the mistake from Wright changed the game, their heads go up and their at us again.
I couldn't understand why Donny backed off second half they could have scored more but gave us the initiative but for all our bluster second half we didn't look like scoring, big test against the doggies next Saturday.

 

He turns up for HIS cup final the majority of times hes just bog standard

 

Bit of a strange game in all honestly. Started sloppy and deservedly fell behind, responded really well and deservedly equalised then you can't legislate for the Wright howler and we're behind against the run of play. That goal rocked us a bit and we did the worst thing we could and conceded again.

Second half it's all us but you can tell this team isn't used to breaking down a team who sit in because we didn't create enough ultimately.

First and second goals we were a yard too slow to react and the speed of thought from the Donny players was just a split second too quick for us and we lost out on duels in dangerous areas.

One thing that is annoying me is GAs constant substitutions of Pointon. He's always the first to get hooked after a poor team performance, no matter how he's contributed himself. No way he should've come off instead of Sarcevic today who was anonymous again.

 

I agree Dave up until wrights mistake we were the better side but then we went AWOL

 

I thought both Pointon and Sarcevic were shocking today both should have gone off at HT and I am going to say something that many may disagree with but Pointon is a different player at VP than away whether it's how the opposition approach games I don't know but he looks class at home and bang average away.

 

That's fair. I can't help feel that our home/away pattern will be a feature of this season. As long as we maintain our home form we'll do fine.

 

It was down to bad individual errors had that not happened it would have been a different game .........still hey we lose a game and its back to mass meltdowns .........folk need to get realistic and realise we are a steady midtable team that will win a lot of games and lose a few which us not the end of the world is it ?????

 

Precisely, its a process.

 

We had to lose sometime. Couple of bad defensive errors today. Attack lacked imagination and any sign of cutting through, which is a bit of a worry because I don’t think we’ll keep many clean sheets this season. Neither Pointon nor Sarcevic looked on it. Thought Power had poorest game for us. Let’s be honest we never really looked like scoring one second half. Pennington quietly got on with his stuff. Hope he’s back asap. Having said all that, we’ve shown character and resilience all season so let’s hope it was just a bad day at the office.

 

A steady season pushing top 10 and I would take that all day long this season

 

We can’t perform like that defensively next week.

We just can’t.
