Nice sentiment but it's hard not to fee like it's a massive moment of self destruction. We were cruising. It was a question of how many after 15 minutes and a confidence boosting win to take into our next home game. I thought we were all but up. Then, a flash of petulant lack of self control and everything is thrown into doubt. It's hard not to feel completely floored.

 

In my eyes it shows character, a refusal to be beat. Just watched Barrow v Walsall, they look done for do Walsall, but we will see.

 

Not sure I'd describe it as petulant. I don't think there was any intent there, but it was massively reckless. He went flying in and got it all wrong. The most annoying thing for me is that there was absolutely no need to dive in like that in that area of the pitch.
It cost us big time today and as he's key to how we play, I think it makes us very vulnerable for the next 3 games.

 

I just don’t see it like that at all. The one on Pattison was far worse. It was a two footed, studs up, over the ball jump straight into Patto’s knee. It was nowhere near the ball and could have snapped him in half. There was nothing remotely borderline about it. It was the very definition of a highly reckless and dangerous straight red challenge. I thought so at the time and subsequent viewings, especially in the ‘Inside Matchday’ video have only confirmed my view. It’s incredible that he wasn’t sent off.

 

That was absolutely a stonewall red and the lad clearly got away with one. Smallwood wasn't as fortunate but can't have any complaints

 

They certainly have done the job today but Carlisle United away winning today to keep themselves in with a chance of avoiding the drop wont be easy, then Grimsby at home a team that have a better away record than at Blundell Park followed by Wimbledon away not the easiest away fixture, finishing with Gillingham at home.
I'm not trying to make a case out for us winning the League we had that in our own hands after 14 minutes and looked like we just needed to continued doing what we did for the previous 13minutes, you and I both know nothing is won until it is mathematically impossible but there will be some strange results popping up before the end of this season.

For 14 minutes you could almost taste promotion, even grandiose dreams of lifting the title at VP. It's not like the player was going anywhere or it was a threatening position when he made the tackle, I guess that's the chance.you take when your game has a large physical element to it, actually the more I think about it the more it does my head in.

Reckless and not in control of the challenge stop nit picking, if your going to quote me quote all my reply, "it was the follow through which like it or not was not controlled and deemed as reckless by the official" are you suggesting it shouldn't have been red ?.

 

So why wasn’t the Everton player sent off last week for an identical tackle ? Different interpretations of exactly the same tackle?
Btw BOTH deserved a red yet an official AND slow motion VAR said a yellow?

It wasn't identical though kev. Tarkowski had cleared the ball well before his follow through connected. I agree though that Tarkowski should've had a red. The officials made a mistake.

I seem to recall a 5-2 defeat in 1985 just after we had clinched promotion. Brentford or Reading I think?
