They've come into the club with good long term plans, the stadium plans have been in the pipeline for a few years and Stockport as a town allows for a good potential catchment area to fill the development

The Wrexham boys were certainly serious back in non league when they said they wanted PL football. I don’t think they’ll stop until they get it. They’ve got to much interest and fanfare from across the pond to ever give up. Very jealous they didn’t look our way, dispute us looking like we’ve turned a corner.

The money they were spending in non league gave a good indication of how serious they were. Their turn over of players too, no sentiment towards players taking them up. Their spending power is as good as anyone in the division, be interesting to see how long it lasts if they don't go up in the first year or two.

It’s probably fair to say County are using the same blueprint? Wrexham have the funds for really long term, I don’t think County may have ? Remember Huddersfield did the same until Hoyles family said enough is enough ? I’m sure that’s what happened?

Don't the regulations regarding income against expenses (players fees etc) come into play in the Championship?

Stockport haven’t spent anything like the same amount in getting to where they are in L1 though? Wrexham were spending several hundred grand on centre backs in non league and L2, and big wages on Mullin, McLean, Fletcher etc. now they’re signing players for millions.

Stockport’s growth seems more organic. I stand corrected If ive assumed wrong though.

Stockport lost £7mil for the last financial year, the year before that they lost £5mil. They might not have spent as much as Wrexham on fees they've spent plenty on wages. Stockport had an income of £9.2mil last year compared with Wrexham's income of £26.7mil which is something that people either ignore or don't realise and it's a big factor in how Wrexham can spend, Wrexham also only lost £2.7mil.

In the Championship the rules are you can lose £39mil over a 3 year period whereas league 1 is about limiting player costs to 60% of turnover.

Cheers. Just out of interest, what is an average a League 1 budget? Would Stockport be top six with that?

Not on the same scale I agree , but they spent a lot , especially on wages. Sarce a classic example ? I bet their budget was double ours?
