Grounds been frozen solid all week. Not sure why we were told yesterday that the game would be on.

 

Not sure, I hope it’s on but it is forecast to be below freezing from 4pm according to met office. We’ll see.

 

Covers cannot be fit for purpose if this is called off then.

 

Well up here in sunny Cullingworth it is currently. -1c. When I woke up about 7 ish still dark it was -3c. The sun is melting it fast now. We need someone who lives near the ground to give us the low down.

 

Well hopefully they will have had the heat lamps on that part of the pitch.

 

In the lower kop you lose track of the ball when it goes through the eyeline of the advertising board. Things like free kick are just guesswork as to where the ball has gone.

 

How do you know?

 

They are mild protection only even for water .

 

There is already water in the soil. When temps drop below 0 degrees overnight it freezes and it doesn’t defrost the ground until temps rise above zero again! So covers can’t help when its rained loads already and loads of residual moisture hanging around.

temps are below zero this morning in Bradford apparently so can’t see ground softening enough to pass a 10 am inspection.

I’ve emailed this morning re boards.

 

From what groundsman have said in the past in temperatures at pitch level are 1 or 2 degrees lower than outside so if its minus 3 outside it would take it past the temperatures the cover can protect.
The irony is the next 2 home games are on Sky and so if there is weather like this it will be fine as we can get a heated tunnel from the EFL
