If he is anywhere near what he was that is a quality signing. Id be doing cartwheels if we had signed him and I can't do cartwheels

 

He's 2 years younger than Gary Jones was when we signed him. Has he had injury problems?

 

Had a shin injury which kept him out a while - played 5 games last season, albeit 4 in the PL.

 

He played 106 minutes of football the whole of last season. Missed half the season before last injured too, missed about 2 months in the 21/22 season too. He's barely played in his prime, now at 33 he's trying to get going again and it will be hard, also hard to know exactly what player he still is after all his issues. He's been fit to start 18 games of football in all competitions since summer 2022.

Like us with McDonald, you hope after their time out they can find some fitness then find their feet again and still be effective. Might work, might not. For me, he isn't someone I'd want to go anywhere near, we have enough players that will miss half the season, if not more.

Just proves the total inadequacies of what went on in the summer transfer window. We should be sitting pretty at top of L2 right now but we aren't due to lies, lies and more lies. Really just not good enough all round

 

There's still a decent amount of free agent CBs out there with plenty of experience of levels above ours. Suppose it depends if these injuries are weeks or months? If they are all muscle strains or something in the 2-4 week window, he might think we can get through it?

 

If we do sign a free agent let’s hope he’s a good CB and not a CBA

 

We will not be able to get through without losing ground to in my view. Unless we played 442, but I doubt we would play that way.

We will have to scrap three at the back in the next few games we don't have enough defensive cover in reserve to carry on with the injuries mounting up.
If and it's a big if we somehow how try to play a three can't see it been a positive move.

 

Looking at free agents , is it worth trying to sign Michael Hector on a short term contract?

 

Although I mooted the idea of bringing in a free agent, it does have to be someone who is match fit to slot straight in to cover the current injuries, which is difficult if they haven't been training with a club this summer.

Maybe Lewis Richards is an option to play the left sided centre back if GA wants to stick with the current formation.

I personally don't like the formation and favour a 433. The only problem with that with is I don't think it suits Cook but would do a more mobile Sanderson?

 

Not sure we could tempt him to come up North but if you don't ask you'll never know. contract till the end of the season.

 

Richards seems the obvious choice. Him in the left, Shepherd in the middle and Diabate on the right.

 

How many games in and this is all going wrong yet again and the recruitment team who have fooked us over year after year are still here

 

Sounded like he could barely move in his last run with Charlton after reading up on him. Legs had gone after all his injuries and then the physical side dropped also according to their fans.

Someone like Tim Eyoma might be a shout? CB that's played in a 2 and a 3 man unit for Lincoln, been like 3rd choice CB the past few seasons, started about 15-20 games per season in all comps. Has played RB too, defender with pace to him.

Anthony Stewart might be a one too. Another free agent who GA actually signed on loan for MK Dons last season. Played a few games, got a knock then GA was sacked and Williamson never used him. Experienced defender who did well at Wycombe in his time, as GA got him recently he might try again?
