My post was in reply to @Petrov with regards Youngs comments in July, yet in this article Alex Pattison and Jake Young came through Bantams return | Bradford Telegraph and Argus (thetelegraphandargus.co.uk) Alexander commented about both Pattison and Young,
Alexander had described the pair as “two new signings” before pre-season had begun and was pleased to see them tick off that return appearance.

“They were both coming off the back of missing a big chunk,” he said. “It was virtually the whole season for Patto and Jake missed everything from January.


“Those boys have worked exceptionally hard to put themselves in this position.”

So if Young was putting the effort in then it seems strange why he's not putting it in now, smoke and mirrors maybe, won't be the first time, offer accepted by the club yet Jake is in no rush to leave unless the deal is right for him I honestly don't blame the lad, if as most of the media are suggesting its Fleetwood aren't they in a bad way financially ?.

I don’t see the point in bringing in loans just to sit on the bench or in the stands, we already have Shepherd and Adams doing that atm. Can’t be good for their development , but then again I doubt the owning club care as most are probably just been loaned out until release.

 

He turns 21 in a few weeks and is still circling the L2 loan market, I don't see Everton losing any sleep on him sitting in their stands or ours. Problem with the PL lately, they are kind of cast aside if they haven't made it by 20/21/22ish and then these lads who have been part of an academy since they were in velcro trainers are suddenly cast aside and need to try get a career going after many cushy years.

 

The thing is with Young a footballers career is a short one, he effectively lost half a season through injury if he stays put and stays on the periphery then that will be the equivalent of a season lost. From his point of view he needs to think hard

 

If he is still there at 21 he must have something about him. It’s up to him to force his way In

 

Not really. Matty Foulds stayed at Everton until he was 22 and Conor McAleny was 24. Both have spent all their careers down here and there are plenty more examples, these clubs hoard these players until into their 20s. It doesn’t mean they’re good.

 

McAleny, Garbutt and others were there until mid 20s.

Reality is this kid was at FGR last season, struggled to make an impact in a relegated side and sent back early.

Even though those academies back then are worlds away from what many of them are today, there will always be players those clubs know will never, ever make it to first team football in the EFL, let alone the Premier League.
