That's the way I read it. If Alexander simply doesn't fancy him then at least it's an honest opinion and wouldn't be the first time a manager doesn't rate a player. I'll be honest if I was Young and the interest from league one is true I'd be out of here with the best offer, scoring the goals he did at Swindon and winning player of the month awards does not go unnoticed, I certainly think he thought he'd done enough to at least warrant a place on the bench FFS.

If as we are led to believe Young is attracting attention from L1 then (lazy trainer or not) some L1 managers must see something in him
I would take their judgement all day long over GA who appears to wear blinkers as far as Young's concerned
With our extra investment do we really need to move him on without a fair run of games (a proper assessment) !!
Its not exactly that we are banging them in for fun in these first 3 games
Let's give him a go, we did with Oliver and that only told us what we already knew
If he doesn't impress get rid if he does impress then he can only improve us
All this not playing him for whatever reason isn't doing anyone any good whatsoever

 

Totally agree. Maybe GA is under pressure to get rid of him? There is always a risk when you play a player that other clubs fancy, he might not impress and they lower the price and or drop their interest. Who knows but I would like him in the team.

 

Or you could consider any L1 team thinking
If he isn't good enough to get in a L2 team why are we interested

How good would Sarcevic be as a deeper defender?

Not sure on his tackling but I'd like to hope he'd be more forward looking with his passing than Smallwood.

 

Wouldn't be surprised if young does get sold, then Gillead suddenly comes to back into the mix.

I'm guessing Gillead was perhaps collateral damage due to there being no takers for Oliver, Macdonald and young, meaning cuts were to made elsewhere.

Young going solves one particular equation and Gillead who, only a couple of months ago was irreplaceable and made captain by Alexander, suddenly doesn't need to be sold

 

Imagine if we'd played Young and he scored goals. Better for us points wise probably and we'd be looking at a higher offer.

 

Gillied will not play regardless of the Young situation. Alexander pretty much confirmed pre game that Gilliead and McDonald do not have a future here

 

Neither will Alexander unless he stops being so stubborn with certain players.

What level of transparency and openness have we become used to with the club? Where did the Lewis money go-Kav, and I supposed Wright this summer but I’m not sure they’d have cost the rumoured 200k we got for Lewis.
Young will go, there will be abstract BS about balancing budgets as other players haven’t gone and that will be about it

 

Yeah plus with all the extra investment from our owner we must be awash with money to spend on players eh - 13eta. The mystery deepens on our strange recruiting and transfer strategy this transfer window. You would think we were happy to tread water.

 

Problem with Young, is that time is running out. The longer we don't play him, the more (potential) goals we miss out on. The longer we wait to sell him, the less time there is to find a replacement. Once again, there doesn't seem to be much plan in place - despite the fact we've brought someone in supposedly to handle this situation and learn from the last ones.

On Jake Young, I have heard from someone one who sees training that Young's training is not a problem, but his attitude is. 2 managers at City and one at Barrow haven't found a place him, although it can't be denied he did well at Swindon.
It seems clear that for whatever reason he isn't Alexander's type.
If he doesn't leave this window his value will decrease as his contract runs down.
Best to sell now.

 

If that’s the case why didn’t they cash in when he was brought back from Swindon. If he had put the effort in he would have been in the team earning a good move if that’s what he wants
