It may be another disappointment for some but I also think Wright may be the guy GA is planning on playing at LWB if he can get him to sign. Partly down to his pace being an asset in getting up and down the pitch.

 

My only fear , he can’t defend ?

 

I think Alexander and Lucketti may feel they can work on that side of his game and probably were doing towards the end of the season. If that's the case GA may try to convince him that his long term future in the game could be as a LWB. Just a feeling I have (I've had a health scare just prior to my retirement so have got a lot of time on my hands to mull over these things).

I'm in two minds about Wright. As a winger, yes. It's the LWB bit that bothers me.

Reports today that Charlie Wyke is signing for Chesterfield. Him and Madden will be quite a force. We move on to Billy Sharp !

 

I'd be surprised if we were actually ever in for Wyke to be honest.

 

Another teaser about the away kit on social media now. “Stepping out in the away kit” maybe there is a signing with it after all

 

tend to agree, wouldnt be against him re-signing per se, however i wouldnt want him anywhere near left back or left wing back.

not the best defensively and playing so deep (even at LWB) stimmied his attacking nature, and he seemed reluctant to push too far forward.

Only at city can we have someone display so much potential as a wide forward, playing off a front man and then get him back a year later and chuck him in at left back.

 

Id be ok with them both as long as they were both easily affordable. Both are young, athletic and have decent physical attributes. They're exactly the type of player you can see developing and potentially having a decent 12/18 months and then someone else taking a gamble on with us bringing in a fee.

 

Get him in, he has talent. Have him as a LWB alternative (with another) and use him as a forward option. Id take Wright over Smith any day.

 

I think with the hype there is a signing in the works. It will also satisfy those that moan about the kit and maybe mask any negativity.

If its the kid from Sunderland or the one from Sheff Utd it could backfire though. Needs to be a signing that shows some ambition.

 

I'd only ever want us to use him as a LWB if I'm honest. I don't see the touch or technical ability to play further forward and although defending isn't a strong point, his pace and strength will get him out of a lot of situations where he's struggling.

Obviously we could chuck him up there now and again if we're short or behind but other than that I think his future is further back.

 

Played his best football in a City shirt in a forward position. So much that Plymouth took a punt on him.

 

Wright played wing back in the last few matches and did well. He would be a good option for wing back competing with Richards. And also attacking midfield

 

I reckon it's a new Halliday contract.

 

Why do people think that players in their early 20’s always get better? Many of them don’t. We’ve signed plenty over the years who either stagnated or regressed. Poleon, Mcarten, Knott, Devine, Staunton, French etc.
