Purely on paper none of the centre halves are an upgrade. Hopefully that won't prove to be the case.

 

I think we can safely assume whoever replaced Taylor is an upgrade, but otherwise I agree.
We’ve not seen anyone (yet) at the back who jumps and you think, yep, that’s a great signing.
I hope we’ve three or four still to come max including a centre half, who are clear improvements

 

Agree. Of the four signings that we’ve made so far the better two look to be Sarcevic and Johnson but are they in positions where we really needed to urgently strengthen?

Not unusual at this level, though, Sarcevic and Madden have done the same throughout their careers, plenty of others too.

At least Burton are in League One and Watt will attempt to play at that level.

 

Wonder how many games he will get, less than 50%, or maybe they have recognised they have a weak midfield and need to get in bodies? Any reason why you say he will “ attempt” to play at L1 level. Maybe both of us think he won’t be able to?

 

No I agree, like someone else said replace Taylor with a traffic cone and it might be an upgrade, Oyegoke on permanent would be better than Johnson but that was never happening. In the here and now Johnson should be better

 

People are really praising this move, don't forget some of the clubs that were monitoring him whilst he was a 20 year old playing every game here. Might prove a coup for Burton but christ, if you'd told me back then that in 3 years he'd be at burton I'd assume he'd broke both his legs

 

That's the worst thing though, on paper it isn't because Taylor has far more and higher level experience than anyone we signed.

I'm worried that if it turns out that football is actually played in paper then our back line will be in a whole world of trouble unless we can sign another solid, experienced defender.

 

Talking of RBs I see FCD has signed for Yeovil Town.

To be fair, he's stepped up a league, and that's probably his level. He was never going to be a Championship regular.
