We’ve signed 3 player to add to Stubbs for them positions. can’t see why we’d sign another

By that logic, if we played 3 up front then Cook would be fine playing on the right.

I don't disagree with that, but the post I was replying to was "we can't do a full season with Kelly unless he improves"

You're probably right that we might not sign another, but the point I was trying to make in reply to the poster, is that I think Kelly on the left is solid and won't let us down. The others are as yet unproven in a City shirt an I would rather us sign a solid, proven RCB or CB rather than try to upgrade on Kelly

Not GA's style that. At least he seems to know where players should play unlike Hughes.

Spot on. The Barrow result was pretty spawny too, as was the draw at Grimsby. However, the resilience is there and we can applaud GS for that. Under Hughes we would have lost against Walsall, Barrow & Grimsby.

GA is on record as saying that nobody he signs is ever guaranteed a starting place. He's in the "mix" for that position with Byrne/ Baldwin/ Stubbs and in the mix for RB/RWB with Halliday. He isn't "starting" anywhere until he proves himself.

In the same way that we played a defensive LB (Ridehalgh) at LCB when we had a defensive crisis ? Worked well that didn't it.

Because we have no cover at LCB or LWB. Gilly can play LWB at a push but who would play LCB ?

He was clumsy at times, rushed in for the ball. Also panicked with his passing/clearances and tended to hoof up the pitch instead of getting his head up and playing a short pass to a team mate. It was his first full season though. This season will show if he can rectify those faults and perhaps even step up to league one or if he's at his level.

Which one of them's a downgrade? Agree Tomkinson needs replacing but that'll be another young lad on loan so probably happening late in the window. Baldwin for Platt is definitely a debate but we've covered that

Richards. Richards I believe has played more games at CB than LB during his career?

I think we will only make a couple more signings unless Oliver moves on, possibly a LWB and another CB.

Might be the case but as things stand he is our only LWB so how can he be cover for Kelly without leaving us short at LWB ?

Indeed, and what we will see is that no player is guaranteed a place, so Johnson (who I'm starting to think might be your love child) is bound to start in either.

I agree, we do need a LWB to come in. I’d be happy with Richards covering both LCB and LWB and a quality LWB coming in.

Elliot Watt has signed for Burton.

I'm not sure who his advisor is, but the lack of ambition with his choice of clubs is very strange.
