1903 Club Shirt

Yep, I had the same email and the same initial thought too.

However, I then thought that they probably can't leak the design to us as that not how shirt launches work (they'll be hoping more than just 1903 Club members buy it).

As such I've reconciled handing over my tenner in the same way I do my season ticket money every year: more in hope than expectation!

 

People buy new houses off plan all the time for a lot more than the cost of a shirt. In any case because the 1903 club shirt is so specific and limited to those in the club, they need to know how many to order. City can hardly put any left overs on sale in the shop nor they can reasonably leave people who want one without. Seems a perfectly fair way of limiting their exposure to disappointed 1903 club members or having shit loads left they can’t sell.

 

Does any one know how many joined the 1903 club.

 

Yes, but if you are buying something off a plan you at least have an idea of what it is supposed to look like!

A bit like the one we had that we wore in the 2-2 home draw with Gillingham a few years back.

 

Fek me, I’ve just seen the “discounted price” of the shirt…..

For context, it was said that 1903 members would be able to buy the special shirt at a discounted rate…. I see the shirt price is £49.99, but will be £44.99 to club members. WOW! £5 off!

I was perhaps naively expecting it would be around £30! I think £44.99 is taking the pss a bit to be honest.

 

Very money orientated approach this year. I was vocal about it out at around the time they introduced the 1903 club and then the players lounge membership on how we risked alienating some fans with the just a little bit extra stuff and got called out by some on here.

I understand nobody has to purchase anything and it's alright for those who can afford it and put that bit extra into the club but still feel we need to be a little careful

 

Your second paragraph contradicts the first there, as you say no need to buy it and the cheapest season tickets in professional football. The only way people will be alienated is if we continue to lose, to win fans have to be willing to pay a price that makes us competitive at whatever level we’re at, if not through season tickets then other methods. It’s just sensible business, passengers who fly economy don’t get put off when they see business class prices it’s there to give options whilst maximising profits.

 

Not really a discount if it is only available to those that joined as @Offcomedun says. I thought it said previously it was available for sale as well

 

Isn’t it available to everyone to buy? But 1903 members have their name on it and a massive £5 discount.

I still haven’t even received my “tube”! As said previously, I now have to pay import tax and Vat on stuff coming from the UK. Plus a 10€ admin charge. If I get this shirt, I’m going to have to pay around 20€ on top of the purchase price. Also slightly dubious how it’s going to look, and how many names they’ve managed to squeeze onto it.
