He had no competition last season and was in great form and made some excellent saves ?.

I'm a big fan of Jamie Walker, but yesterday was probably one of his worst performances in a City shirt.

The sooner Pattison and Sarcevic are back the better to provide decent competition.

All the focus on the defence and goalkeeper which is understandable given the poor goals we conceded yesterday. However our lack of goals from the broader team other than Cook is what will cost us this season.

The defence is on par with most L2 defences, it could be better but I don’t think it’s a major weakness in the team. The fact we will struggle to score more than 60 goals this season is what will cost us.

Lately we have more goal threat from our centre backs than anywhere else bar Andy Cook, if we are playing two upfront then the supporting striker has to contribute as do the attacking midfielders.

No harm in a bit of competition to keep him on his toes
Its one of two positions we are very vulnerable in
We also need a back up for Cookie awaiting to hear the extent of the injury he got yesterday although we have a replacement the manager leaves him in the cold, prefers the likes of Smith and Oliver for some strange reason

On yesterday's performance and I was a Doncaster fan ( which I ain't!), I don't think I could look at the Doncaster starting line up and think of replacing one of them for ours.

Sharp, Hurst and Molenuex have already had praise but on yesterday's showing I'd take Janie Sterry (no.2). I thought he was largely excellent at carrying the ball looked very strong defensively.

Same with Cook who is actually pushing him to do better ???????
Nobody and we all know he will go through a lean spell but there is nothing or nobody to put pressure on him once it happens ...............and yet some loons will pull him to bits for going off the boil rather than looking at the bigger picture.
Honestly we dont get at least a play off posistion then heads should be in the block come the sumner

Bet our Centre backs outscore our attacking midfielders this season which shows it for what it is.

In fairness Gaz, I'm not sure anyone needs to push him to do better. OTHERS NEED TO DO BETTER!!

I've posted 'Deja vu' to several posts on here because I've read them this season, last season and probably the season before....and agree with all the points by the way!!

Lose Cook and (choose goalkeeper of choice Lewis / Walker) then we really have nothing, no back ups!!

If we can see it then wtf are the people in charge seeing every single time.....gross negligence on the footballing department!!

    Simple risk assessment:
    Cook injured, who scores?
    Goalkeeper injured, who plays?

Yeah, that's true. I actually meant having to replace him in that I think there's plenty of cheap, available goalkeepers that would be of a similar standard.

Wasn't Joe Adams meant to be the box to box midfielder we've needed? Unfortunately we'll never know, but the one position we should have tied down is a mobile centre midfielder. It's OK going for experience but with experience you tend to get a lack of pace, and the one thing you can't have in the middle of the park is a lack of pace. I hope the recruitment team are already making efforts to bring someone in come January. Fortunately it's one defeat in 5, repeat that sequence and we won't be far away. The biggest concern for me, is that the best players so far this season (with the exception of Cook) are all loanees, some of whom may be recalled in January.

Cook is being pushed by other city players, just not ones that play for us anymore. Windass, Hanson, O'Rourke and Campbell are giving him all the incentive he needs.
