As a point to consider, Rotherham have 7 points from home games from 4 matches. That's decent and the opposition have as much impetus to win as we do.

I would take a point too. By achieving a point we sit 8 points clear of 7th place

Very scarily in the last 8 games Rotherham are rock bottom of League One with 4 points, whereas City are top with 19 points.
Form can count for nothing in these games.
I reckon it is March 2006 since we beat them away in the league!

You've used data to substantiate my point but my gut feeling ( as somebody travelling to Rotherham missing 3 games all season in all competitions) that this is a real test if not a bloody heck of a banana skin game.

Added to the fact it’s a local derby and anything could happen…..We are too long in the tooth to know any different!

I know a point on Thursday would be OK and we can't win every game but I'm really hoping for a win to give a bit of a buffer for the upcoming tougher (on paper) fixtures. Whilst we're so on form I'd love us to fully capitalise against a struggling team.

After Leigh's strop, could be Metcalfe and Patto

I think I'd go for that midfield anyway to be honest. Seems to be our busiest midfield and both players seem to be happy to get stuck in and get forward so far this season. Give Leigh a break which it seemed like he was in line for before Pattisons concussion anyways.

Playing in blue tonight and they chose Pattison as the player in the image. GA talked up Metcalfe in the press, guessing that's our midfield for tonight?

As others have said, local derby (ish) and us without Power means anything could happen, though we should still go into this relatively confident IMO.

Rotherham average possession is only just higher than ours, but our touches in opposition box, xG and all that associated stuff is a fair bit higher. In fact they’re 24th in terms of touches in opposition box.

Suggests they’re not too dissimilar in style (not possession-based, longer balls etc), but we’re clearly better at it.

These sorts of teams have actually made it the hardest for us this season, specifically Donny, Wimbledon and to a lesser degree Blackpool as our success has come more from pressing possession teams hard and winning the ball high up the pitch and/or longer balls from the back into the wing backs going forward etc. When the opposition do same, we’ve found it tougher.

I’d have previously said we therefore might come a cropper in this sort of game but to date we appear to have ‘found a way’ (barring the Donny aberration). They can’t keep clean sheets, generally neither can we. I reckon 2-1 City.
